Yeah, right. There is too much homelessness and too many vacant homes all around that people can't live in w/o payment. No genuine help is available for those in need. Most people want something in return. Now we have people acting like they are helping people while showing their "good deeds" on social media to get followers and donations. Not many people are genuine anymore. They give those who are struggling a few dollars and leave them to their suffering, knowing how fast money disappears. 💯

It doesn't address substance abuse issues, mental illnesses, criminal behavior etc. In SF they have tried 'housing first'. The people live in squalor in filthy apartments because they don't clean. They fight and kill each other. Management and maintenance get threatened. The apartments get damaged and have to be completely renovated. They are buying, selling and using meth all day every day. It's terrible for all the neighbors. Eventually they get evicted for lease violations and end up homeless again. It's not just about housing .

Then he put trailers with solar panels and a water collection/purification system on it, and was totally self sufficient. The city came out and condemned his property, and trespassed him on his own land. Told him he had to be hooked into city water and power, and if he came back to live there without complying, he was going to jail.

@ : things can change.. I went from homelessness as a child to now having a family estate on under 500 acres via Marriage Contract. God will change things in our lives when we least expect it. The main thing I wanted in this world was Land & Home Ownership and it happened. No matter what, find some Big Acreage for Cheap and Buy what you can afford in building generational wealth. Me & My wife are NOT materialistic and we are Minimalists. We don’t have many expenses other than a Car Note & Small Business Expenses which is a blessing. I came from Nothing, Raised by Single Parent, Inner City Drug Zone / War Zone. First chance I got to get away from the Hood I left and never looked back. Education is Everything and can never be taken away from you. I stay in the books, mind my business and live a quiet and peaceful life somewhere far far away from the BS. Sad part is that I still wear Body Armor and a 2 Piece Special under my Bathrobe when I’m Reclining in Complete Solitude. Once you experience certain things they just never go away. Anyway, it will happen for you by the Grace of God.

@ the local laws always come up with 100 reasons why you can’t put it on your property. It’s not on wheels so it’s not considered a trailer, it’s too small to meet most minimum requirements. Basically this could be an office but not something you could live in. Not always the case, but even on unrestricted property there’s too many reasons why you still can’t do it . hopefully Elon musk will change the laws when he starts selling his Tesla homes.

The American dream was barricaded by the intensely restrictive and overly prohibited idea of using your land or even building a home and even that is taxed and often reassessed to increase the taxes aggressively in some places.

Now, you have to plumb the house for water and sewage, then you have to tap into the power grid. Before that, though, you have make sure it's fairly secure to the ground so it doesn't blow away during a major storm.

Built like an RV and would probably last about as long. No insulation to speak of. Flat roof would leak. It may be cheap but the set up and delivery cost would bump that up considerably.

These things lack insulation. So unless you live in a moderately temperate area, you're going to freeze inside of this thing once it gets cold. Also, how are you going to cover your windows? Since it's not made out of wood, you can't screw in any blinds or curtain rods to put up any curtains. Lastly, is it even waterproof? I'd worry about rainwater seeping through the crevices where the rooms fold out.

No mention of insulation. Walls are only 75 mm (2.9") thick total, so if you're lucky, you have 2.25" insulation space. Freeze in the winter and bake in the summer.

Land is easy , permits and zoning to actually use your land in the way you want is the issue. GO find any unused land and then contact the owner to see if they will sell for payments, check every detail before you offer.

You have to buy or rent a small lot. If you're renting you're still going to be paying $800 rent per month to live in your $6,000 house. Also, these houses are intended to be temporary housing. If you're using it as a permanent residence it'll be worn down to the point of being barely habitable in 2-3 years.

The walls are only 75mm thick. I doubt the R-value is anywhere close to being usable in cold climates. And it is made in China. Given their history of using toxic materials in much of their manufacturing, not sure I would want to risk it. The basic idea is good, though, and might be able to be duplicated and improved upon, though probably not at that price.
