I love my Tekton tools. Most of my tools are tekton even though I still have some snap on and Matco, Tekton was the best bang for my buck when I started my carrier and still have not had anything bad to say about them. I also like how they don’t skip sizes In their tool sets.

I was 57 years old before I bought a brand new toolbox. I purchased used for years a few different brands to get me thru my career until I bought my new box. This one I have is one that I had owned previously and I was satisfied with the build quality. I believe it will take me well into retirement and it's in my will to go to my grandson. But its a brand my Dad had for years...Gray.

Totally agree on the Tekton wrenches. I did a review on my channel on the metric set and it saved my butt because Tekton had a 25mm that I needed for a Case skid steer hydraulic lines and my MAC Tools Precision Torque wrenches did not. Even showed how the tolerance was tighter on the TEKTON than the GearWrench wrenches that I have. Take care!

I believe in the happy medium mindset for tools. Tools with less moving parts are totally fine to buy cheap in many cases. More complex or precision tools it is best to get higher end in most cases. There are definitely exceptions though. For example, the HF Chicago Electric dual action polisher that HF sells for $45-$70 (depending on coupons) is actually a great DA polisher with more power than many of the brand name options that cost more than double! I got a good deal on Dewalt 1/2in drive impact Sockets that are the same as Mac. Tekton 3/8in drive impact sockets. Gearwrench 44 pc combination wrench set and 1/4 in drive socket set. Harbor Freight Icon ratchets in each of the 3 main drive sizes, an Icon screwdriver set and a 30 in 5 drawer tool cart. And still had left over money for a 3/8 in Dewalt stubby impact gun and 1/2 in Milwaukee high torque impact gun. That is everything I needed to get in the door at John Deere internship. All the guys there are nice enough to lend the big wrenches until I can afford them.

I love the Tekton stuff been using it for years working on our equipment. I just ordered the 24" 1/2 ratchet and those wire strippers off ur links. I see a lot of people that gotta have the name brand expensive tools and they actually have a less diverse set of tools limiting there capacity to fix there machines in the field.

I started buying Tekton a couple of years ago. I own sockets ratchets wrenches screwdrivers pry bars cold chisels and pliers. I am totally satisfied with all of them. As a British retired auto electrician I agree with everything bar the wire strippers, that brand broke very quickly! I'm mobile and IMO you might pay 3-4 times for a Snap-On top box compared with UK equivalent to Harbour Freight but I've had a 58 series (NOT Bluepoint) for 20 years, kept in the back of car or van.

Another great socket set are by ATD. I have their 1/2 impact set. Been using it for almost 10 years. My 15mm has pulled well over a hundred sets of cab bolts on ford superduty. Countless sets of head bolts.

I have the sunex master 3/8 set 7-22 in deep, shallow and wobble for $125. I just broke the first wobble after 3 years. I emailed them, they asked for a picture and sent a new one in less than a week

I feel your pain brother! I fractured my tail bone over 20 years ago and it still hurts sometimes! Believe it or not, another good place to find quality tools is at flea markets/garage sales. Many times you find high quality, USA made tools for next to nothing. Sure, they'll be used and might not be shiny but, by God they can still get the job done! One tool (set) that I DEFINITELY recommend is the Lisle master disconnect set. Even though most of it is plastic, it's USA made and less than $40 on Amazon.

Just ordered the wire strippers. Thanks! Edit: BTW, IIRC you have Mac prybars. They're made by Mayhew. Same goes for Matco and Cornwell over 24". Many, many Mayhew tools are relabeled on the trucks. Look at Metco's picks as another example, or the punch/chisel sets on all the trucks other than SO. Same goes for Lang and Lisle. Compare what a Lang snap ring plier set costs next to an identical item on the truck. But I digress. I was trying to say that you do have experience with Mayhew prybars. Really like your channel and appreciate the honesty. Unfortunately, the latter is not as common in the tool community as one would prefer. Good luck.

I'm a big preacher of craftsman (old Sears) mastercraft (canadian tire) because they are life time warranty. And haft cost of snap on. Husky are pretty good. I'm also cheap tool and good tool. It good to have option depending on the job and use of the tool.

Brandon you are wise beyond your years. Not letting yourself get caught in the pay Snap-on by the week racket is a good move for you. Ya'll starting out today have more and better options then us who were starting in the '70s had. My boxes are a miss-match of brands. Along with tools I bought used. We had Snap-on, Mac & Cornwell trucks stop by weekly. Sears had Craftsman. We had tool peddlers stop in with different brands and the auto parts stores had good brands. I bought some of all of them if they were good and worked. Blackhawk, Bonney, Williams were all good tools and all American made. There were no Chinese, Pakistan or India etc. then. When you hear somebody pop off about how much better his $30,000 worth of Snap-on tools are just think he is probably trying to justify in his mind paying for them. While he is sitting by his box eating crackers for dinner in his "free Mac or Snap-on cap" the tool man gave him. Tell him you are going to have a Rib-eye. I see you work for Holt, where? The 1/2" is also the newer 90 tooth. My 3/8 popped out the same but it still functions pretty much fine, it does skip teeth occasionally.

The tekton angle wrenchs have the same angels as the snappy ones, at a fraction of the cost. The Cat branded angle wrenchs are snap on made, and almost the same price as the tekton set.

Agree Tekton and Sunex are great. Gearwrench is pretty good too. You should check out Capri tools for sure. They are just as good if not better in some cases. All with lifetime warranty's as well. Email Tekton and they will send you a new one with no issues. I have Sunex and Capri tools impact wobble socket and both are top quality and priceless. Keep up with the good work man.

You would see a bunch of Snap On tools with CAT logos on them lol. Some actually will still have the Snap On logos still on them along with the CAT ones. They get the majority of their hand tools from Snap On an so they just give the hands those for replacements when they break them or atleast our CAT dealer where I live here does anyhow but yea I wouldnt mind seeing that myself. Need more heavy equipment mechanic toolbox tours instead of auto techs all the time lmao. But I'll watch whatever I can always good to see what other people have or come up with an their reviews of tools after use rather than reviews of things that were pulled out of a box and never put to the test. But I agree with this guy I got Harbor Freight, Sunex, GP, Astro Pneumatic, Gearwrench, William's, Proto, BlackHawk, Snap On, Husky you name it. Havent broke a socket from any of them but I use impacts 95% of the time. And he is spot on with the universal/wobble sockets if you work on hydraulics those are your best friend along with angle wrenches lol

Tekton angle wrenchs are the best out there 30 and 60 degree unlike many and MADE IN THE USA! Many like them better than the Snap on and at less than 20% of the cost.

Matco ADV swivel sockets are Sunex Swivels. Matco pinless swivel sockets are Gearwrench Xcore Pinless sockets.

"You get what you pay for" - exactly right. There are several high quality brands. Buy the best you can afford and use them for life. I have been a Snap-On dealer as well as Mac and Matco, 35 years ago. I got broken 1/2" ratchets and every other kind of tools from all 3 brands. Sorry to say, adding a cheater is abuse. For the mechanic it comes down to who will be most generous when honoring warranty.

Snap-On Prices are even high compared to Stahlwille & Kraftwerk Tools in Germany and those are one of the "on vogue" ones right now. Personally, I'm just a "Hobbyist" and work on my Motorcycle, Car, Cars of friends, Motorcycle of Friends and so on - An a KS-Tool Set (~80€) + Wiedemann wrenches and Knipex Stuff works pretty damn well for me. Friends of mine which work daily in Workshops also point out the good quality of Hazet Ratchets for an example for the daily heavy duty stuff but those are still less expensive than SnapOn Ratchets. Maybe it's due to the DIN (Deutsche Industrie Norm / German Industry Norm) which regulates how much a tool has to endure before it breaks. So every "more expensive" Tool like Hazet, Kraftwerk or Stahlwille is known for "Well, this stuff goes beyond certain limits." while you can use Stuff like KS-Tools for "normal" stuff like Cars and Motorcycles without issues. I mean, sure, Trucks for an example are different because you've more Nm on those Sockets - but if I remember correctly the large Ratchet from KS Tools endures ~500 to 600 Nm [Edit: But I'm really not sure, I'll look it up if you wanna know it?]. I think most Screws on my Motorcycle would break there ^^'

@@DaroriDerEinzige During my time as a tool dealer Snap On made their own ratchets, but Mac and Matco outsourced theirs from Blackhawk. Interesting story: Mac Tools was once made up of two companies, Mac Tools Inc. and Mac Allied Tools Corp. Mac Tools Inc. made the hard line, wrenches, sockets, screwdrivers, etc. Mac Allied Tools Corp. did nothing but procure the soft line via purchase for other manufacturers and specify that the Mac Tools brand be on on the tools. When the time came to renew the contract agreement between the two companies Mac Tools Inc. saw that the majority of the sales profits came form the soft line which Mac Allied procured elsewhere and Mac Inc. decided they could do that themselves so they didn't renew the contract. Mac Allied had a huge business already up and running and decided it wasn't just going to go away so they changed their name to MATCO and outsourced a hard line just as they were doing their soft line. MATCO's original hard line manufacturer was Bonney Tools. I've been out of that business for decades so I have no idea what they are doing now. In any case, neither company was financially able to stand on it's own after the split so Mac was bought by Stanley Tools and MATCO was bought by Chicago Pneumatic. Re: Knipex: Good tools but not exactly low priced. Channelock does the job for much less. I'm unfamiliar with the other brands you mention. I've not seen them here in the US.

@@pyromedichd1 Thanks for the Information, really! It's pretty interessting! :) Yeah, Knipex is probaly more expensive in the USA than in Europa, at least a little bit. But those Tools hold up at least a decade. I mean, it also depends. Knipex is (as far as I know?) mostly for Electric Stuff and used for "finer works". But I've few tongs still from my Father from them which are ~30 years old and still working fine. Hm, in Germany at least we order many Brands directly from the Companies or over certain Dealerships. In DIY Markets (I'm not sure if this is the right name for it - Stuff like Obi / Hornbach and so on, where you can buy Lamps, Fences, Tools and so on), you often only getting either very expensive Bosch & Co Tools or cheap China stuff. They have sometimes Actions with special Prices, but mostly if you just need a Ratchet Set or Wrenches - You simple order it directly or go to places like "Stahlgruber" (Or order from them, because I mean you rarly buy one Ratchet/Saw/Drill if you've a Maschineshop or a Carpentershop) which is for Handwork Companies. Maybe the Shipping Costs wouldn't make it wise, but Stahlwille, Kraftwerk, Gedora, Hazet and for "Hobbyists" like me also KS-Tools are maybe more affordable alternatives via Amazon. I think, a whole Toolcar from KS Tools is right now (Because the newer Models will come soon I think) ~600 Bucks with Tools. And even Hazet is around ~1500 Bucks right now. But I also think, a Problem could be that there aren't Standardsizes (I mean, that's the word for Inch sized tools in the USA, right?) in it. Also, I mean, just sayin' - Maybe you will have sometimes the Chance to lay fingers on one of those Tools and then you remember "Ah, wait a German once said KS Tools, BGS and so would be ok for Homework stuff - Hazet would even have industry quality. Let's see if he was right!", so you know? ^^ Thanks for your time.

Even though I can't buy them locally anymore, it's S-K all the way for me as far as tools that NEVER leave my shop. I still use the S-K Wayne socket sets that belonged to my grandpa. If only those tools could talk, the stories they could tell...I'm sure they'd have a story for EVERY battle scar that they wear with pride lol!

@@DaroriDerEinzige I have a few Knipex tools-end cutter, side cutter etc. Believe it or not, I bought them all at estate sales for $1 or $2 each in new or nearly new condition. They're wonderful tools and live in harmony with my Channellock stuff! Hopefully, the people that appraise and organize the items in these sales don't ever figure out how much Knippex (and other lesser known (but extremely high quality brands) are actually worth!

Amazon also carries Proto,Wright, SK, J.H Williams, Knipex, Wiha, Wera, Grey Pneumatic, Channel Lock and yes Gearwrench, Mayhew, Klein, Ingersoll-Rand, Chicago Pneumatic and Milwaukee. I highly recommend Wright wrenches with the wright grip 2.0! They are a bit more than Sunex or Tekton but are still cheaper than Snap-On, over half the price, and are, in my opinion a stronger wrench. Check out Wright impacts along with Grey Pneumatic!

I am having a really hard time deciding what impact sockets to go with, Im going to school and get a really great discount on snap on so I am thinking of getting a standard and metric set of those, but man these tekton sockets look great, one thing i want to now is how deep the collar is inside the socket, If you got a short bolt will it get lost in the socket or is that collar higher up

So this is a great question. I’m opposite from everybody else. I wan no collar at all. I have shallow sockets for that reason. And if things get crazy I have extra shallow also. Iv been in situations where I need a long socket but I needed the bolt to go up into the socket instead of move my impact back so to space reasons.

Well I’d say first and foremost be honest about your work history and capabilities. Don’t make them think you can do all kinds of things and then get there and they throw you in the deep end. I’ve been seeing that a lot lately. Ask about what they expect of you straight up. Get as many detail about the job description as you can before hand so you can study and that will also give a ballpark of where the questions are gonna be directed

Just bought some snap on wrenches lol, it is too tempting, however I do buy a lot of cheap stuff too and Milwaukee, only have a few tool truck things and I got the wrenches on eBay so not too bad, but now that I think of it I could have had two bigger sets of icon wrenches for the price I paid and that is at like a 40% discount. The tool trucks are definitely overpriced.

The tools make you money invest in tools. There are cheaper boxes out there cause there nothing more then tool storage the box doesn’t make you the money. Worked in your field for years and then went to bigger stuff ship engines. And now they don’t make name brand tools that big lmao.

Yup I've been perfectly fine with my US General 5 drawer cart and my 56" US General box they work just as well. I've got quite a few coworkers with them and the small Husky boxes. Most of them have either Matco or Snap On boxes and everyone of them regret purchasing them. They did like most went straight out of school and financed a box. I'd rather have the tools than a box with nothing in it because all the money was spent on that.

POSSUM3K3 yep the tools make you money the box is to store the money makers 10k in tools is a lot compared to an empty box that cost 10k and you pay on it forever

I like the thoughts behind the video but the tekton wrenches are shiny scrap metal or at least the set I have. They are softer than any fastners I put them on. But what ever gets the job done is the only thing that matters. This is just my opinion and experience w/ those wrenches.

It tried to warranty a set of tekton flare nut wrenches and they did not warranty any of them. Don’t buy flare nut wrench set... they have rounded the bolt on my brake calipers

Big fan of harbor freight and gearwrench remember a toolbox can't turn a bolt so don't blow your wad on one

Exactly everyone of my coworkers damn near have either a Snap On or a Matco box and everyone of them said if they had to do it all over again they would have never done it. I use a 56" US General box and their 5 drawer cart zero problems here and that saved me a hell of alot more cash for tools to do the job I'm paid to do. I use mostly Gearwrench, Proto, Williams, Harbor Freight, Craftsman and Sunex but I got I think every brand under the sun an if it's a tool truck tool thats in my box, I guarantee I either bought it used off Craigslist or Ebay an it was a good deal. Hard to make money when your entire paycheck goes to 10 tools off the tool trucks. My harbor freight sockets hold up just as good as the next and when your working on heavy equipment there is enough iron in those tools you'd have to seriously be doing something wrong to break them. Like 2" wrenches with any brand should last you your career, unless you abused the hell out of them somehow.

i have been turning wrenches for 30 year i only both 2 things off the tool truck 1/2 mac air impact and a set of ball pin hammers. i agree with you the name on the tool does not make you a better mechanic.

@@TexasEmpire GP makes some great tools but your gonna pay a little bit more for them They have similar prices to other second brands like Williams, Blue Point, BlackHawk and other tool truck cheaper lines of tools. I really like their sockets but I can get Sunex alot cheaper an will hold up just as well so hard for me to justify paying that hire price even though I like their looks and style.
