Reeve made a funny face at the words 'a certain growth' and made it sound like sexual innuendo (implying an erection), and then when Tom realised he totally played up to it by stroking the microphone :'D dirty minds, everyone, lol

I don’t believe that its the country per say but the fact that Tom asks if Reeve, when he brings up going somewhere sinless for a boys weekend out, is surgesting they’d (dorian and Lucifer) go on a honeymoon together to eighter the Maldives or Shi Lanka and he would be up for it!

I dunno...this whole thing was a little weird...what are these conventions really for, anyway? Can't we just watch the shows without needing these guys to talk about their personal lives for hours on end? I just think the spectacle of a bunch of middle class women who paid money to get into a big room with a bunch of male performers onstage whom they pepper with meaningless questions, to which the Hollywood-ized men often respond in a somewhat patronizing manner, is distasteful. Try looking at it with fresh eyes. The whole thing seems pretty undignified to me. What is it about being in the same room with these objects of your fantasies that is so worthwhile? Just fantasize in the comfort of your own homes. You guys are like groupies.

No problem, nobody's asking you to attend - or watch the videos.
@KD-vb9hh5 жыл бұрын
@@amberdreams_0 I'm sorry if that came off insensitive. I realize there is a lot of fun to be had at these events for people. I just wonder at what price? How does this kind of thing affect people psychologically? I think more people should ask themselves these questions, in order to be self-aware. What do things like this look like to our daughters and sons?
@amberdreams_05 жыл бұрын
@@KD-vb9hh To be honest, I'm not sure exactly what your concern is. The actors definitely enjoy these events (especially this particular convention, because the organisers take exceptionally good care of the guests, in addition to the healthy fee they get paid for attending). I know of many actors who do not enjoy this kind of interaction with their fans and who therefore never go to conventions of any kind. So I think the actors know how to curate their own mental health around this kind of event. Similarly for those of us who chose to spend our money on conventions - we go because they are a chance to interact with the actors, to find out a lot more about the shows we love, and a little bit more about the people themselves. I think 95% of attendees realise they are seeing a public face, albeit a relaxed one, and any insight into the actor/guest is only as much as the guests feel comfortable sharing. When fans do ask silly, intrusive or overly personal questions, they are pretty swiftly closed down (and this convention vets questions beforehand too, to make sure fans don't overstep the line, as much as possible). And as to your last question - let's face it. Kids (especially teenagers) are permanently embarrassed by their parents, no matter what they do, so any parent at a con is probably in a lose lose situation - though I do know quite a few parents who take their kids with them because they are a family of fans. You are, of course, quite correct in thinking there is a lot of fun to be had - and I'd recommend trying one for yourself sometime - you might be pleasantly surprised. Most of the people who go year after year do it at least as much to meet other fan friends than to see the guests. I know I've made some friends for life through these events.

@@amberdreams_0 I just think our culture of hero-worshipping is scary. Why are we so obsessed with celebrities? And it is more often women who form these kind of groupie-like ideas about how perfect in every way the objects of their infatuations are. But we don't know these people - we only know how they play their characters and the image they choose to present to us. For instance, did you know Tom has a daughter with an ex in Wales, and that he didn't really take much part in her upbringing? He got together with his next ex while the first one was still pregnant. And he had two more daughters with her, only to cheat on her (again while she was pregnant) and leave her. She does the bulk of raising the children while he's in Hollywood furthering his career. Now he's married to an 8 years younger woman, with whom I'm guessing he'll have even more kids. Now, I'm not condemning him as a person - I don't know him or his circumstances. But how do you think his exes feel when they see his career blowing up and so many women thinking he's absolute perfection and hanging on his every word? I feel like people need to think more about what's real and what's fantasy and understand the difference. Fantasizing over Lucifer? Totally get it. Fantasizing over Tom the human being? Fine, but don't think that the reality is anywhere near the fantasy - and don't create this cult of adoration. Presenting a good image to our daughters of being strong, reasonable women who stick up for other women is what I was referring to when I wrote, what do these things look like to our children? And presenting an image to our sons that we women are intelligent human beings that don't idolize men based on their looks and performances, and don't enable any man to treat our fellow women badly and get away with it. Can you imaging if he were a woman and had done what he's done - he would have been excoriated, called all sorts of terrible names. I'm pro fun and pro fantasy and these conventions seem like largely a good thing, but all the questions about Tom's personal life and what he thinks about everything - I just don't think it's good for women and the kind of future we want to carve out for ourselves. I'm glad you've made friends at the conventions and sorry if this offends you - it's just what I genuinely think and feel.

@@KD-vb9hh I know about some of Tom Ellis's behavior in his private life, but I still think his public persona is a very kind and fun one. I hope he's learned from his indiscretions and will try not to repeat them with his new wife. He is said to be a hands-on father and seems to be close to his daughters and they appear to love him. I, for one, love what he does fleshing out the character of Lucifer. He can make you laugh, cry and feel so many different emotions with just his eyes alone. I admire his ability to make that kind of magic, it is a wonderful match of character to actor that may never be repeated. I enjoy the idea of meeting a celebrity who likes to have fun and who is so outgoing doing a job that can be somewhat difficult. Unlike some female fans, I have no illusions that anything but the planned activities will take place at these conventions. It's harmless fun when you don't assume these celebrities are offering you anything more than a chance to interact with them and answer questions and buy memorabilia. The convention I went to was an opportunity to interact with an actor whose work I love and I had fun for the most part. I did not purchase anything I didn't want to buy and I people want to spend their time and discretionary income at conventions, that's their choice, right?
