In collaboration with the FWC’s Fish & Wildlife Research Institute field lab in Tequesta, the West Palm Beach Fishing Club (WPBFC) tagged large Amberjacks while fishing aboard the Reel Candy offshore Palm Beach Inlet.
Electronic transmitter tags were surgically implanted in the fish. These tags last for years providing valuable data to fisheries biologists interested in learning more about Amberjack behavior, growth rates and migration patterns. The WPBFC has been partnering with the scientific community for well over 50 years helping tag game fish. This tagging trip is a continuation of that conservation legacy and another example of the WPBFC’s ongoing support of game fish research efforts taking place right here in our back yard.
