I'm Turkish and even though this is an ASMR for portraying 18th century Ottoman province Syria; it also resembles nowadays Turkey's little towns, I might say you've done very excellent job.Sound effects are right on point, voice of the guy who sells things from background, adhan, and all the other sound effects are resembling my neighborhood and the other lovely towns that have walked in before. And some parts of this sounds also gives a glimpse about Istanbul's daily life.Thanks for reminding me my childhood and ours & grandma's home

islamic architects really knew what they were doing with the traditional arab house design, the sound of the running water bringing a touch of nature to an urban environment, the open air courtyard basically working as an natural airconditioner in combination with the water fountain to cool the rooms around the courtyard, and hearing the birds chirping after a long day of house chores .... this is basically just another day for the typical syrian family in the 17th century but as a modern day child these sounds create an ever lasting memory simply because of how different that environment is from the modern city.
@ambienceofyesteryear68714 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your excellent and evocative observations -- this traditional design style does indeed have a host of advantages! It is such a joy for me to think that my videos can help those of us in this era "visit" the past; connecting with the ordinary, everyday past (as you said, "just another day for the typical Syrian family") is especially meaningful to me.

This is such a surprise to find on KZbin! It's very accurate, from the sounds to the image and the typical stone used for buildings, which is this golden colour. It makes me miss these places, of which there were many even to this day. Unfortunately much of the old city in Aleppo and many restaurants and hotels that were located in these old traditional Syrian houses with courtyards are in ruins now. Still, there's a saying in Arabic that human life is more precious than stone and I have hope things will return to how they were one day.

@Free East Turkestan - It seems that I should clarify that "Ottoman" used in the title of this video refers to the historical era during which Syria was under Ottoman rule. The video depicts an actual, existing Syrian house built in the 18th century (during the time of "Ottoman Syria") and is therefore described as "Ottoman" the way I describe the historical settings of other videos as "Victorian" or "Qing". Turkey is indeed its own country with its own people, but this setting is not Turkey!

@Julian Rahahleh - Because there has been some confusion on this issue, I realize that I must clarify that "Ottoman" used in the title of this video refers only to the historical era during which Syria was under Ottoman rule ("Ottoman Syria"). The setting depicted is an actual Syrian house built in the 18th century, which places it within this long Ottoman period of Syrian history; it is described as "Ottoman" in the same way that I describe the historical eras of other videos as "Victorian" or "Qing". I should note, also, that this particular Syrian house is in Aleppo, so it is not specifically "Damascene" but is instead "Aleppan".

This is my first time trying your channel and I just noticed that I spent 2h 20 min listening nonstop while working on my computer. I got very productive. Although I am from Morocco, the sounds seemed very familiar to what I have experienced in my childhood in the old medina of Fez. I hope you can create more of this oriental-type ambiance. Thank you.

I'm a big fan of your work, and once again here it is amazing. I love the subtlety of the sounds, how the courtyard looks peaceful, the soothing warm colors ... I'm into ambiance videos for a while now and I have never seen this theme before. It helps me a lot during my studying for university exams. At the moment I'm studying medieval litterature, it is a perfect fit to dive into it :) Thank you for your work !

I am so grateful for your descriptions of the sounds. I am sure it might be a bit of a hassle, and yet you do it. It helps getting even more immersed into the scene bc the desciption of the sounds are done so beautifully and tell a story by themselves. Thank you.
@ambienceofyesteryear68714 жыл бұрын
It touches my heart that you say this; thank you so much. Writing the descriptions, for me, is neither "work" nor "hassle" but is instead a gesture of heartfelt sharing -- this is true for the making of the videos themselves, as well. These little stories are born of imagination and love; thank you for entering into them with me. :)

I appreciate your very kind words, but to be honest, I have already been given far more attention than I ever imagined I would receive, and far more than is comfortable for me! It would actually suit me perfectly well if my channel never "blows up". :) I created the channel by the request of friends, and it exists only in the hope that I can offer something of service to others, so even though I do not seek out attention, I will nonetheless welcome everyone who finds something of value here.

Your host's garden is a sudden sanctuary from the den of thieves, aka the city outside, now seemingly 100 miles away since you stepped into this man-made, oasis from the city, all around you. The fountain a white noise machine while the host's family's voices provide the music; all forming a beautiful background to the peace and tranquility of this garden.
