Very Ethereal stuff here. That's a lot of gear, but it still sounds much larger. It's always very cool to see these somewhat disconnected jams rather than very polished tracks. Both have their place of course, but there's just something special about having the gear in front of you and performing a track like this. Solid stuff!

I love your jams. Always interesting. I am a bit curious about the NDLR. Is there any way of saving the midi from the NDLR when doing an improvised jam? I mean to capture ideas for further tweaking? I am looking to build a DAW-less rig and is considering having the NDLR as one of the brains (the other will likely be a groove box like Blackbox, Deluge or Circuit Tracks).
@JayHosking3 жыл бұрын
The motifs and pad/drone parameters can be saved, and then the MIDI can be recalled whenever you play the respective chord. I've never captured MIDI from the NDLR so I'm not sure if it can be done. And thanks!
@PeterGaudiano3 жыл бұрын

awesome work again. could you consider doing a tutorial on how you set up/use the NDLR? How did you connect 4 synths, I believe there are only 2 midi outs? and do you ever use the (new) chord sequence function?
@JayHosking3 жыл бұрын
For this track, I captured the entire process for Patreon, starting from connectivity, to sound design, to composition. I never sequence the chords, though I should try it one of these days.

Amazing stuff Jay - did you program the main theme into the NDLR or does it magically make it?
@JayHosking3 жыл бұрын
It starts from a preset motif, but you can change the range, starting note, playback direction/pattern, speed, etc. so it can end up pretty different from wherever it started. And thanks!
@tendingtropic77783 жыл бұрын
Hi Jay! I was wondering; I watched almost all your videos (several times haha) and throughout the months/years you seem to have so many different setups! Question: what do you do with your synths that you are not using at the moment? how/where do you store them or have them lying around? I also seem to have this (luxury) problem, and wonder how you go about it. cheers!

After a few years, how you finding the NDLR? Any faults? Flaws or Issues to report? I'm seriously considering getting one and I think it will make experimenting with music/song structures pretty easy since all the 'maths' of music is pretty much at your fingertips. Your feedback would be greatly appreciated.
