Hey I just wanted to say I love this song and I'm very glad it's on Spotify now, I listen to it a lot. This video is probably the reason I bought an MS-20 a few years ago. I watched so many videos to get a feel for it but this one really made an impact on me

A quick comment to say this is beautiful, and so wonderfully captures the joy of synthesis at its core. Your attention to the harmonic depth here is just masterful, especially using the oscillators for those huge sounding fifths. Not to mention that this should serve as a go-to reference for the unique character of that MS-20 filter. Well done and thanks for sharing.

Oh hell yeah. I love hearing that filter resonance just sawing along and all the polyrhythmic modulations in it's wake...When you push the filters with a good delay source in the mix it's a chef's kiss situation.

I just got new headphones for Christmas. My old ones were half a decade old now, with a hanging side that needed to be taped. It was bad, and the quality just wasn't there anymore When I got my new headphones, I decided that this would be the first video that I'll listen to, because it's the most calming and enjoyable experience I've ever listened to. Thank you, for making something so beautiful, that I can now enjoy to its fullest.

Very very nice, pleasant and melancholy. I'm redesigning the layout of my equipment, looks like getting an SQ-1 may be cool.... On top of the Ms-20 mini, I have a minibrute and microbrute which are hardwired like the ms-20 but can be patched to change signal flow....and then there's the drumbrute which I sort of regret, but with some effects maybe it can be a part of something as chilled out as this.

@angusica11 Жыл бұрын
No reply for this?? :(
@baroque4days Жыл бұрын
@@angusica11 new as well but I'm assuming one important part is the overdrive hack you can do by feeding the signal out (top right) into the ESP input (bottom left), then feeding the output from that (there are like 4 outputs so I guess, go as far right as you want depending on what features of the ESP you want to use) into the external signal in (it's the third port on the top row I think). From there, not sure but that will give you the fuzziness I imagine. Just adjust the ESP knobs until the overdrive sounds nice. I'd say the patch is probably made using either both saws of the osc 1 triangle and osc 2 saw. Got some fuzz but I think it has a lot of hum to it. Also, with the paraphonic nature of it at some points, you can get that from the SQ1. Haven't done it myself but looking for MS20 SQ1 paraphony will give you loads of tutorials. I hope this sort of helps. I am brand new to the MS20 so I have no idea either but that's all from what I've learned so far.

Thank you so much! I've not heard Steve Roach before, thank you :) The SQ-1 is really great. It's quite limited, but at the same time, actually quite flexible, and a lot of fun. Especially when you use both CV outs and use active step to make each CV lane different lengths!

@oliverdowie4 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the slow reply! Hold down the play button while turning on the SQ-1 to enter parameter settings. The position of the sequencer mode knob allows you to change the step resolution. I believe if you set the knob to the "up-down zig-zag" setting, that sets the steps to play quarter notes. Then you just hit the power button and it'll save the settings and reboot. Look up the SQ-1 manual if you get stuck :) Thanks for the compliments too! Means a lot :)

Advice: Buy one right away! 😁 It is a great sound-maker. If you like sounds, you can make a great range of sounds with any MS-20 (including the Mini.). If you can find an MS-20M within your budget, even better (more options for broader range of sounds, and not quite so noisy.). Either way, any MS-20 will provide endless enjoyment - great sound machines.
