I bought an iridium first year it was released and sold it…..last year. I bought the Keyboard version! I’ve iwned a ridiculous number of synthesizers starting in 1987. The Iridium is the most useful, beautiful, deep and easy to use synth I’ve ever owned. In my opinion nothing matches it. You surely know your way around synths and I love your videos

Exellent video , i was wondering if i go core or not , and this video desmonstrated (i hope so lol) that 80 % of the time you don't use the bottom knobs , you used the env , then all was done mostly on screen .... Superb video cause i saw some i never seen in other videos : the presence of toools , boy i'lm happy to see those . Still i think a faster way to allocate mod (like sequenctial or hydrasynth) is a must on this synth ...(ot at least filters in para list , or color codes ...something to make this easier )

Nice technique, I haven't used the second layer on my Iridium yet. This Synth has a Lifetime of sound possibilities.... Also, watching your video I realized that one of the buttons one my Iridium has a wrong label, lol. I always wondered why I have two LFO buttons.

To become better in dealing with my soft synth I tried to rebuild this. It came out a little bit different but I am satisfied with it. Your first two oscilators (the wavetable ones) i rebuild in Vital. (OK I did not have the wavetable you used in the Iridium but it came out quite similar.) Than I recorded it in ableton and gave the recording to two single tracks of the granulator to be able to pan them. One problem I got was the right setting of the delay. Because the delay is a bit different from yours there is another groove in there. Second problem was the timing of the granulator. So the beat of the granulator sometimes goes off. Could not fix that problem.

This is beautiful as ever Martin. I've been saving up to buy a new synth - quite possibly a Matriarch, but listening to this makes me think the Iridium could be another contender.....As a matter of interest - do you think that you could do very similar with Omnisphere? I have had Omni for a few years - like many people (I suspect) I have mainly used the massive array of presets and also a few extra libraries from Luftrum and Tom Wolfe, and haven't really gone too far into using it for sound design. I realise that of course it doesn't have wvatables as such - but seeing this gives me inspiration to look at Omni more closely to see if I can get it to do something similar! Also very pleased to see Neptune seems to enjoy relaxing to it 😃G

@@MartinStuertzer Ok, I admit, that's a bit of a cheeky comment from me🫣. But seriously: the Iridium inspires me in almost every detail. The only thing I don't understand is the Scope-Tab. When can it be useful for sound design? I would be very grateful for a tutorial.
@MartinStuertzer
@MartinStuertzer 3 ай бұрын
@@electroniccaveman3493 The scope can be useful, when you want to create a sound and want it to sit in a certain frequency range. Also a few parameters and not properly labeled on the Iridium, like the center frequency of the Phaser effect. It just goes from 0 - 100% without telling you the frequency. With help of the scope you can find out, what you are actually doing.

Hi Paul! I have tried the Hydra a few times in the shops and it certainly is a good synth. However I already have a few wavetable synths and think that it would be redundant in my setup.

Just a question, why did you modulate OSC1 with a S&H LFO in Single Trig mode ? If you trig the second note during the sustain of the previous one it will not reset the phase of the LFO and it will give the same value. (ok it will not happen because you're sequencing! Just for the sake of curiosity). Wouldn't be "Poly" a better choice ? Thank you very much for this video! Hope to see many others about sound design with Iridium.

I am tempted to get this thing but looks like you have to do some mad menu diving to access parameters. Not sure if I have the patience for that.
@MartinStuertzer
@MartinStuertzer Жыл бұрын
Most important parameters can be accessed on the panel but due to the complexity of the synth with it five different engines (analog, wavetable, FM, samples and physical modeling) there are a lot of pages. But I find everything organized in a very logical way and would not call it a menu diving hell like other synths that I tried, like Jupiter Xm or Wavestate.

That's a very interesting patch you got here. I'm very interesed in the Waldorf Iridium and I was afraid there is too much menu diving, but it looks very easy when you doo it and it can creat very interesting sound. Correct me if i'm wrong, but the Iridium has 6 LFO, right? But is it in total, or per layer?
@MartinStuertzer
@MartinStuertzer 2 жыл бұрын
yes, there are 6 LFOs. Did I say 5? You can also loop the envelopes so you have a lot of modulations. Everything is per layer, so for each one you have a dedicated set of LFOs, envelopes and everything else. It is basically two Iridiums in one.
@Moruial
@Moruial 2 жыл бұрын
