"Ambivalence" was written as an assignment for the Los Angles Composer Fellowship Program (CFP) and as an experiment on how to write for the human voice. I had never previously written for choir for the voice so I frankly had very little idea of what to do or the typical conventions of the style.
I learned a lot from the piece and later performance of this piece by members of the Los Angeles Master Chorale via the CFP. It turns out not all singers have perfect pitch.
