Thank you for sharing your experience. Not enough is said by epileptics themselves about their experiences with seizures, medication side effects and life style adjustments. It is a very useful conversation - for youngsters & adults alike. Wising you improving health and positive vibes. Take care!

Thank you so much for this video. I will be having my first ambulatory EEG put on tomorrow and taken off on Monday. I'm extremely nervous. I totally understand the desire for the doctors to see something so they can actually figure out what's going on. I realize this video is a few years old, and I haven't seen the rest of your posts yet, but I pray that you are in a better place now than you were when you posted it. Thank you for your bravery in sharing your story.

I have my awesome gauze hat on right now for my ambulatory EEG. Had a fall and hit my head on concrete. Hospitalized for 6 days and had a seizure a day after my injury. You are not alone!

I’m getting tears of joy knowing that there is someone out there that did the same test I’m doing and gave me some great advice and I don’t know about you but I don’t think of my epilepsy as a disability, I think of it as a condition. So enjoy your life to the fullest like that condition doesn’t and has never existed. 😊

Thank you for having the courage to record this video. Your bravery will console and comfort so many people who need to have an Ambulatory EEG for a variety of reasons. I pray that your test has helped your doctors better understand how to treat your illness and that you are now living a life free of physical & electrical interruptions.

I understand how you feel, I too have a seizure condition and it sucks, but right now I just did a eeg on Monday to determine if I'm still safe enough to be behind the wheel. I enjoy watching the video.

Hello, Whitney! It's 2024 and I found your video. I am also having an Ambulatory EEG due to some really weird symptoms that the drs thought was a stroke. I am 55 and this has never happened to me. I, too, hope that they find something! I am a HS teacher and I need to get back to work asap next week. I need to be there for my students and especially my family. How are you now? Have you posted anything recently? I am praying for you!

Hello! Have to have this test very soon. I didn’t know what it would look like (although I had some idea because I had been in the hospital a few times and had it done) , especially having to travel home with it and may have to use public transportation 😱and being able to bathe. I may consider canceling the procedure. Were you able to at least wash up some kind of way? My hair is short and I’m not sure about the irritation of my scalp being itchy? How were you able to sleep? I’m a cold-natured and menopausal woman. I get extremely cold and then hot at times. I read that you have to sleep in a cold environment with limited blankets. I’m just very nervous now about having this done now.

I am going tomorrow to get mine all hooked up. Thank you for this video. Ive had epilepsy since my teenage years (13, now im 36). I went a very very long time with no seizures and over the last few years, ive been having pretty big ones, at least once a year. I just had one on 4/26/23 and the doctor ordered this. Ive never had one before, not an ambulatory one. I really needed this video. Thank you.

I am going for one of these and im not looking forward to it. I already have a visable disability and i dont want to be double starred at. I miss being invisable so much because you can hide it if you need to for jobs or school. Now i say my chair is a part of my body.

Whitney, I am hoping that, they found out what you were looking for. Thank you for posting this. I have to have a portable EEG, next week and then go to a funeral and I was wondering what if looks like and how could I look a bit more normal for this funeral of a dear friend. He will be in Heaven laughing at me but you know how everyone around us are. I was thinking a scarf. I’m not a beanie person, maybe I can find a pretty floppy sun hat. I also have to buy a button down blouse, any believe I don’t have one. I would love to hear from you and know how you are.
@whitneycarter3721 Жыл бұрын
Hi Carol, I usually wore a beanie, but I wore a floppy sun hat once because I had to attend my cousin’s bridal shower, and it worked great! I wrapped a head scarf a few times for church and such too. I’m sorry for your loss, and I hope the funeral goes well.

In a few days my doctor wants me to message him and tell him how my seizures are and I may have to do an at home EEG. But I have done so many hospital EEGs, IDK if I could handle this.
@thatoneguysteve85 Жыл бұрын
Might be a long time ago since you had this, but do you remember how hard it was to wash off the glue they put on the electrodes to stick on your head? Last time I had one at the hospital, the glue couldnt wash out so had to cut off my long hair 😥

@whitneycarter37215 жыл бұрын
madkittyjoey70 the glue placement and removal or something else that was painful?
@madkittyjoey705 жыл бұрын
@@whitneycarter3721 The glue and electrodes and how they wrapped the bandage down my chin. Plus having to carry such a heavy monitor in a bag and the strap was digging into my arm. Having to actually sleep with that was the worst.
@whitneycarter37215 жыл бұрын
madkittyjoey70 ya, one time they wrapped it too tight and it gave me a terrible headache. It was better when they loosened it.

@whitneycarter3721 Жыл бұрын
I do not remember what company the equipment was from. They did not send me home with a tablet or camera to monitor me. I later had a 7 day epilepsy unit admission so they could video record me while hooked up to the EEG but not at home.

im suppose to have it this weekend. they told me id be home bound. how true is that is what i wanted to findout about. i have a family event for a few hours on one of the days and waited to find out if i could at least sit in the car and kinda hang out. thx for the video.

I'm supposed to have an ambulatory eeg starting tomorrow. They said they will be putting cameras in my home. Did you have to have cameras? If so, how did you deal with it. Thanks.
@whitneycarter37215 жыл бұрын
Andrea's Life I didn’t have cameras when I did it at home, but I did when I was in the hospital. My longest EEG was a week in the hospital and they had cameras there. The short one hour EEGs have cameras too. Camera are always helpful because they can associate which movements happen with which brain waves during the seizure. Or they can see if you’re having a seizure but no movement etc.

I’m sad I have to do this bc I’m not gonna leave the house for three days ): and I don’t think I have epilepsy idk why I’m having seizures
@whitneycarter37215 жыл бұрын
julie d I’m sorry you have to do this too. Did the doctor say you couldn’t leave the house? I was allowed to, and I even went to a bridal shower. I definitely stood out with the weird wires, so that made me want to stay home for sure. Eventually I came to the conclusion that I have to live my life normally for the EEG to actually capture what happens on a day-to-day basis. If I just sat at home all day, it wouldn’t be realistic or accurate on the results.
