This is not hyperbole: some stars ARE the characters. Jimmy Stewart IS Jefferson Smith. Humphrey Bogart IS Rick Blaine. Clayton Moore IS the Lone Ranger. And Edmund Gwenn without a doubt IS the one and ONLY Santa Claus.

This is wonderful to watch, especially since I've only just seen this classic for the very first time. (Yes I know, shame on me !) Its a beautiful warm hearted film, and this background footage is just so insightful and informative. J thoroughly enjoyed this. Many thanks for uploading this !!!

My favorite Christmas movie of all time. Way better than It’s a Wonderful Life. The remakes were just plain offer.

I saw all the remakes and the actors in those versions did a good job, but they could never equal the original.

The secret of miracle on 34th St. is that it has heart and warmth in it, you have to have heart, something that’s missing in our world today when it comes to movies and TV. And that’s why it’s timeless just like the Rankin/Bass holiday specials and even the Wizard of Oz.

Could someone go back in time and tell Maureen O'Hara that there were actually four adaptations of _Miracle?_ Please, this is important.

Like the great Alistair Sim in A Christmas Carol, the marvelous Edmund Gwenn is so completely Kris Kringle he even had Natalie Wood convinced of it!! Those two performances are by far the measuring stick for all Yuletide films. You could put a matchstick between them for which was better. All future remakes of A Christmas Carol and Miracle on 34th Street were strictly a leftover rehash. Both men were literally born to play their roles. And played them as no other actor could dare to emulate. Richard Attemborough came nearest to Gwenn and still couldn't carry his red topcoat. Like the 1951 A Christmas Carol, this original Miracle simply had more HEART. A genuine warmth without trying too hard, or with any over the top sappiness. The entire cast only added to the ambience rather than detracting from it. Even It's A Wonderful Life doesn't seem so wonderful compared to those two Classics. Start with A Miracle on 34th Street with Gwenn. Then watch Sim in a Christmas Carol. The two finest Christmas films the world will ever know. GOD BLESS US EVERYONE!!
