John, thanks for the great video! I got the same camera last night and tested it out using the 12v barrel jack. Now I would like to mount it but need to purchase an injector first. However I am getting mixed information, for example the barrel jack reads 12v but then the injector you used reads 48? Which voltage is appropriate for the POE port, I dont want to fry it! Also are you aware if its active or passive? Thanks!

@@120ohm I'm not sure of the exact voltage but I have read somewhere that the camera port or the POE injector somehow figures this part out if one is higher. I would hi up Amcrest support and ask.

@@nerddadtech Thanks for the reply, ended up ordering a generic 48V POE injector for Amazon and crossed my fingers! Woks perfectly so I agree it must accept a range of voltages, still kind of odd that its not clearly marked somewhere, such an important thing to know...

Nice review. It's good to see that the image field-of-view doesn't change when you go between at least some of the different HD resolutions. This is a major issue on other Amcrest and Dahua cameras. I would buy an 8 megapixel camera to run at 1080p to get a clear image-IF the camera would downsample the image instead of cropping in! (It takes an 8MP sensor to make a clear, 1080p image due to the Bayer color mask. All cameras using a smaller sensor are interpolating the image.) A couple notes of feedback on the video: • You need to increase your system's screen DPI setting so that text isn't so small in the video. 2x whatever it's set to right now would be about right. Not everyone watches the video fullscreen on a 32" monitor. • Really wish you had maximized the web browser. This would have made the camera's image fill the video area, allowing you and your viewers to see and appreciate the level of clarity and sharpness this camera possesses. At the small window size used in this video, we're not even at 720p! • It would've been nice to see a comparison of the camera at 1080p vs full resolution, just to verify that they're downsizing the image correctly and not changing the field of view or blurring the image.

Great review. I just bought this camera for a weather cam and have a few question I hope you can answer. 1. Is there a way to do a time lapse recording 2. Can you stream directly to KZbin for a live feed. 3. Is there a way to do a weather overlay on the screen. Thanks in advance Allen

Yes and no. The camera is great but it is meant to capture video. Everything you listed can be done by other software. I notice there are 2 connectors, Ethernet and the other you said was sound. From what I gather us the tube connector isn't sound it's power, so can I run a Ethernet to the router without the power box and then run a 12 volt power supply to the barrel connector (if that is for power) you totally bypassed that barrel connector.

Technically yes, the Amcrest camera needs to have a functioning IP address and RTSP capabilities.

Great overview of the nvr and camera. I hooked up an Amcrest 4K 8MP bullet cam to Amcrest nv4108e-hs via cat 5 and then hooked nvr to my 4K tv via HDMI cable. After configuring everything and viewing just the single camera full screen, there is a thin green box that circles the outside edge of the video. Is there anyway to remove that thin green border? I called tech support and they said no but I didn't know if you had any thoughts to try. Thanks...

I just ordered the Aecrest system and will be having it installed soon. The system has 8 cameras and I would like to know if I need to buy a separate POE injector switch box for each camera, or do they sell a box with 8 ports that the wires are run into. Also my system did not come with the hard drive. I will buy the 6T hard drive and am wondering how difficult that is to install. I am in NYC so if you could recommend an installer familiar with the system, I would gladly use. As for now, my maintenance people are installing, but they are not familiar with the system. Thanks.

There is a lot here so if you have questions let me know. Some NVRs have POE included. If yours does not they do sell a switch with multiple POE ports.Sometimes you would get multiple depends on where you are installing your cameras and the distance between the NVR and your cameras. Hard Drive: Western Digital or WD sells the WD Purple Surveillance HDD which is perfect for this type of setup. Installing the HDD is fairly straight forward. As for an installer, I am not sure. Yes the POE camera requires a POE switch or an NVR with POE

@@LT1SWAPCOM nope just run the one wire to the camera thats the beauty of it or just hop on Amazon get cheap 4 port powered switch and run 4 cameras all with just the 1 wire (ethernet cable) to each
