All My Children - 2002 - Bliss to Despair in a Heartbeat

All My Children, 2002, Brooke wonders why Edmund sent her long stem red roses. Edmund didn't, and he isn't happy that Tad did. As it turns out, Jamie sent them to Brooke using Phoebe's credit card and Tad's name. Tad thinks it is proof that Jamie isn't happy with Brooke and Edmund's pending nuptials. Tad tells Jamie that he is getting back together with Dixie, who is carrying his child, and that Brooke and Edmund are getting married. Jamie leaves the room. Edmund and Brooke overheard the conversation, and Brooke agrees to keep the wedding plans to a minimum until Tad returns. Tad exits. Brooke assures Edmund that she was just trying to avoid a fight before Tad headed off to the airport. Brooke also assures Edmund that when Jamie sees all their happiness staring him in the face, she is certain he will come around. Opal arrives with news of Dixie's death. Brooke and Edmund should have ended up together. The writers can't write a love story that they had and then not carry through to the happy ending...theirs was exceptional love.

The writers blew it. Even if they were determined in the end to reunite Maria and Edmund, they should have given Brooke and Edmund a period of wedded bliss. They also should have shown to the newer audience their incredible history as a couple. Makes me sick how they handled it. Even before Maria's reappearance they weren't writing Edmund/Brooke as the truly remarkable, and serious reunion that it was. And did they always have to bring Tad into everything? grrrrr. Brooke and Edmund were sizzling and adorable and romantic without needing any sort of love triangle. Just give them an investigative journalism case and stand out of their way.

@@deuxjournalistes2993 Agree. I hate remembering AMC because of how the writers robbed us in the ned. Theirs was a love story like no other.

Yes, they had a wedding and got married but it was invalid because Maria, who was presumed dead, was actually alive.
