These cutouts inside of the screw holes at "4:20" together with the 2 pins of the mounting bracket are a demonic moebiusstrip.

Been using corsair aio's since I started building pcs. the 2 screw clamp down is so easy and just works :) glad i can freely move it over to AM5 with no issues. Unless you consider the fan cables being an issue lol

Height is the issue bro. I can confirm that the AK620 does NOT fit as the cooler base contacts the CPU before the mounting screws do.

Thanks for making this video. Since the Corsair H100i would be considered a "common mounting solution" (ie., using the stock mounting bracket), just want to confirm - have you had any compatibility issues with AM5? Based on your video, sounds like it should work.

...and this is another strike against upgrading to AM5 for me. My Enermax LIQtech 360mm AIO absolutely comes with it's own backplate. It's performance on my 5800X is so good, I'm not ready to just give up on it.

I made my own backplate/mounting brackets for a Thermalright cooler to make it compatible with am4. I have noticed som motherboards develop a “pit” or bend around the socket, won’t happen with my backplate, 5mm steel plate FTW.

what about those low profile coolers that use just a bolt & nut that goes directly to the back of the motherboard, those don't use the AM4 backplate. Are those compatible with AM5 ?

No. Anything that either uses its own or removes factory backplates will not work.

It seems that NZXT is shipping AM5 brackets for X and Z Kraken series, both use Asetek design so I wonder what they exactly shipping.

@@BoringBryan To be honest I don't know some people in reddit said they used it and it was fine and safe, there was even a user who claimed that he didn't notice difference when he got his AM5 bracket, I just returned my Kraken X and bought Corsair cooler instead as they use clamp style which is officially confirmed is compatible with AM5.

For the nzxt x61 which is basically asetek cooler. I indeed needed a new mounting bracket. The holes do not match. This video is wrong about the asetek bracket. Maybe new versions will have the right bracket. But mine did not. Found this out after driving an hour home from micro center, luckily Amazon had the bracket with over night shipping. Micro center also sells the bracket for $5

I'm confused with the DeepCool Castle 240EX. It screws into the AMD backplate. Yet on their website it says it isn't compatible with AM5. I am currently onto their support to clarify.

The problem I have, I bought a used high-end AM5 board, without the mounting clips. Unfortunatelly, the ones from AM4 are different and don't fit because of the AM5 retention mechanism :(. Anyone knows where to buy AM5 clips? There's plenty AM4 out there but no AM5...

Somebody told me that if you remove the zif bracket on your mobo then it invalidates the mobo warranty. Is this true?.

@@GearSeekers - I contacted Thermalright and Gigabyte tech support for clarification. Thermalright said wrt their aftermarket AM5 cpu holder, it does not invalidate mobo warranty. Gigabyte emailed me and confirmed that removal of the mobo zif bracket does not invalidate mobo warranty, but if you need to make an RMA claim for your mobo then you need to reinstall the zif bracket on your mobo before sending it back for repairs.

Hey peeple, I`ve just built a new gaming setup with an AMD ryzen 5 7600x + 6800 GPU + Gigabyte B650 Gaming AX Mobo - I have a very strange issue where the cooling in the system is all over the place, it just seems that the cooling behavior is erratic - it`s not that it doesn`t cool, it cools quite well (water cooler 360mm + 7 120mm fans) but it continusouly adjust the cooler speeds up and down. Every 2 minutes the coolers go to max, stay there 30 sec, go back down to low med stay there a few more min and all over again. Does this continously. With no load the CPU is @ 40 degr. C, seems fine. Did a BIOS update, not sure what the issue is. Any ideas ?

The top hook on my factory mount hook bracket snapped off suddenly, leaving MY ML360 AIO pump head dangling off the bottom hook. However, I literally can't find any sort of AM5 replacement bracket on Amazon or even on Google. Is there a keyword/terminology i should be using? I have a different situation. I am moving from intel to AM4 with a NZXT X73 kraken cooler. I have lost the am4 bracket that came with the cooler. Can I use an NZXT AM5 bracket on an AM5 motherboard (MSI B550 Tomahawk) The reason is no outlet has an AM4 bracket.

Building a whole new pc, using an NZXT Kraken x73 on a 7700x, msi b650 tomahawk, seemed to get conflicting information but this here says it should be compatible with both of those, yes? Just my first time building a pc so of course I'd want things to go well ^^

The am4 mount will work, but you need to be careful tightening the thumb screws. I'd highly recommend getting the am5 bracket, as the standoffs are about 2mm taller, which prevent you from over tightening the cooler onto the cpu.

It's amazing that the amd cooler attachment design is unchanged since ages. This allowed me to upgrade my ancient intel based pc to am5 without hassle. There's no upgrade kit for new intel sockets and I'd have to get a new cooler for them
