Thank you I have been trying for days to fix this problem.

Green with Envy works okay, but sometimes the fans don't run according to the curve or take quite a while to rev back down... Just be aware of it whenever you use it. Also, every time you update the driver, you will also need to update the flatpak libraries. The application will also tell you that, as it doesn't work without updated libraries. Thanks for letting us know about Radeon profile. Looks great!

Dude I need help with GWE. Every few updates I get the NVML Shared library error and I cant seem to fix it without unistalling and reinstalling the program. Whats the deal?
@badsherlockian2062 Жыл бұрын
Hey, I think you can fix it by running flatpak update in a terminal. I have recently switched to an AMD GPU which runs way better with Linux. Also, see if there are any updates in the update manager.@@johnesau3694

I can't wait to kick Windows to the curb forever. There are still some times that I need it, like for Borderlands 3 (even though Linux is possible through Wine) and creating Live Linux USBs. Sometimes UnetBootin does not work, and I have to use Universal USB Installer.

giving linux a go on my pain pc and good lord is fan control software lacking. Theres fancontrol which is aids and gwe requires flatpak but it doesnt support autolaunching... Shame some things just have a ways to go on linux. Unfortunatly for me I do fan curves in the OS as it can be more advanced so linux is kinda getting fucked here.

I've got an unrelated problem in my Windows OS. Sometimes that graphics driver just resets all settings and my machine starts getting very hot for no reason. At least I thought it was no reason until I saw that my GPU fan was at 0%. THANKS ATI!

@@linuxmintguy430 It looks like a huge software problem, ATI screwing it's consumers as always
@linuxmintguy430 Жыл бұрын
@@theeditingneverends I'm not sure why, but ATI cards have only had open source drivers available on Linux for a long time, not the proprietary one. It was not always that way. I remember when ATI directly supported their own cards on Linux. I used to use the proprietary driver on Ubuntu many versions ago. I want to say it was version 8.

I did set Coolbits 4 now, and I have changed some settings, but nothing has changed. My screen turns black for several seconds and then back to normal perodiclly. My GPU is running at 62 C. I can not hear the fan speed change. It seems to be running on minimum speed. Fan Duty and Fan RPM is showing 0, nothing, no green graph in them.

fix?
@HaloWolf1029 ай бұрын
@@fernandolucca3012 My fix was cannibalizing a PC fan from a different older desktop. Plugging it into the motherboard, and pointing it at the graphics card. Tried experimental open source drivers, and official drivers. I am using Linux Mint, so that may be the issue, I am not that experienced. I might have to move to Windows 11, or my graphics card is broken. No idea yet. The extra fan solved the heating issue, but my GPU fans still refuse to spin.

I have installed the nVidia version. The fan control is greyed out. It says, Fan control requires CoolBits 4 to be set. What does this mean, How do I set it?
@utilityaccount8514 Жыл бұрын
what we need is the ability to control one or more case fans to operate based on GPU temp because the fan on the GPU itself does basically nothing. GWE is a GREAT APP but it still doesn't do the one thing that is really needed

Application found but not opening on 1650ti, ubuntu 24.04
@linuxmintguy4305 ай бұрын
I have not tested this yet on Ubuntu 24.04. I just checked, but the latest Linux Mint is still based on Ubuntu 22.04. That makes me nervous, because I desperately need this application to cool my GPU card. I'm not promising anything, but I am going to test a new version of Ubuntu and see if I can get it to work. If I am able to open the application, I'll let you know how I did it.

@@shubhamverma1113 I tried to use an Ubuntu 24.04 liveusb but failed. It was complaining about my Radeon card, probably because its a GCN 1.0 card. (I may have to think about upgrading.) Ahhh.... you are going to need to use the newer build instructions. I have put them in this video here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/j4jRqIWEqdd3Zs0. The problem is you have to install both radeon-profile and the server which interfaces with it. It IS a pain, but once you install it successfully it should work great.

Until I used the newer method, all my boxes were blank unless I loaded with sudo command. The new method involves also installing the daemon (so you don't have to run with sudo command). kzbin.info/www/bejne/j4jRqIWEqdd3Zs0

Any chance you have a way to control the CPU fans on Linux?
@linuxmintguy430 Жыл бұрын
I'm not sure how to control the CPU fans yet. That is a GREAT question also! It might depend on whether your PC hardware has a fan control mechanism or if it just runs at stock speed. If I figure how to do it on Linux, I'm definitely making a video about that.

You are totally right! Thank you for letting me know also, but I want to remind you that if you are using Mint 20.2, you should check out my other video on fan control for that version, because the technique in this video does not work. But also, I was really bad at volume management when I first started making videos, and unfortunately this video is a victim! I am trying to check all my videos now my talking is higher volume and my intros are lower volume. But I'm also not an expert at making videos. I'm just trying to get better with practice.

Awesome! I'm glad to hear it worked for you! I used to just run my machine hot in Linux, but I'm happy to be able to cool my card. Just lost a GFX card last year, but bought a replacement, and its still working well, but I watch the temps closely! I was playing Borderlands 3 in Windows 7 one time, and I noticed my temperature shot up to 100 C, but it was because my fan was not spinning enough (got that rectified REALLY quick). I use SpeedFan in Windows for the same thing.
