I have an LC Power 750w 80+ gold rated unit running a 7600x/reference 7900XT, and I’m able to run it with a +15 power limit and an over clock with no issues whatsoever. The most total board power I get while 100% utilized is around 350w with the overclock.

Yeah, I think my actual issue was with the dual monitor setup which the driver update might have fixed.

Also runnig a ryzen 7600x but with a PowerColour Hellhound 7900xt set to +15% at 2910MHz with a undervolt to 1040mV and it went up to 440W. Toasty 85C HotSpot temps.

Fast timings on vram are “strap” timings, tighter timing to provide less latency. It brings the clocks closer together to provide lower latency.

Fast timing gives me a lot of instability, makes my drivers crash and gives no noticeable performance improvements Does that mean my current gpu settings are already slightly unstable?

I have a Rx 6800. I like to have timings on default due to stability. I found a lot of artifacts and flickering due to fast timing enabled. I also found my card uses roughly 10-20 watts more than default. With default, my card uses 110-120 watts under full load. With fast timings, I find my card using 130-140 watts with 160 watt spikes, which causes stability issues. My card can be overclocked and undervolted better with default timings. Right now with default, my core clock is at 2300 MHz, memory at 2100 MHz, voltage at 925 mV, power limit at 0%, and Smart Access memory enabled. I can play several games at 144 fps with max settings at 1440p and barely touching 56c, these AMD cards are beasts when tuned correctly.

this amd is beast🔥🔥🔥if you know how to setting etc, i know its difficult for new people who dont know how to operate amd adrenalin and what good version amd adrenalin should intall, because some version amd adrenalin have bug force close/stutering in game

Hey man thanks I was wondering why the power draw is so high on these... I even returned my 7900 XTX because of this but maybe I should have waited a little bit and who knows they might even release a driver that will totally fix this and then you can run both monitors at 144. In either case I went with nvidia 4090 now so it's a day too late for me but hopefully this video helps someone who's not happy with this card.

Nvidia still has the better quality cards and drivers and shame on AMD for releasing something with many flaws. We're beta testers for AMD. They will fix it in time, but one should never buy a card with the promise that it'll get better with new drivers. Also there's a batch of XTX reference cards that have heatsink problems. What a shame.

@@FabiWann or that's just gimmick between fast timing vs default .. now i still using 6700xt with ryzen 5600 non x .. playing game on 1440p was enough for me, avg fps >60

Once you get over 60 fps or 90 fps, 2-3-4 extra fps don't really matter as much imo.

I only have an EVGA 650 Watt 80+ Gold PSU and a reference 7900XT + 5800X3D CPU and I run +10% Max Power set in driver for the last few weeks no issues. Board pulls 325 watts pretty consistant at that setting. Total draw at wall is around 475 at that setting when I play games. No crashes or issues. Oh damn... EDIT I see your issues were an old driver.

I have also a 7900xtx and 13900ks with 750w psu, sometimes i wonder if the crashes when using high OC is because of my psu. I can reach high values stable in gpu stresstest, but paired with the cpu in highload gaming the pc crash.

It's probably not the PSU. You're overclocking and undervolting too much. You could also try to disable the MPO.

@@FabiWann yepp, have been tweaking my gpu all night to find the best values. Funny thing is that I've noticed even if i set core speed above 2500mhz, my gpu wont gain any preformance increase. I can set it up to 3.4ghz but it wont matter the fps stays the same. Is there some kind of lock in the gpu settings? If I increase minimum freq above 1900mhz i start to loose fps.

@@jewelersofwhale if you're pushing clock speed too much I think memory clock goes down so you do have to find a balance.

So I did a few runs of C2077 on the 2.01 version, there was no difference between default and fast timing. Frame time graph had the same smoothness with values between 16 and 24 ms.

Keep in mind I was testing with low settings. 70-80 FPS sounds like high/ultra settings.

@@MrBenz1821hi, i change the 2700 to a 5700x and game run super smooth now, with 3200x1800, high settings and fsr balance, fps between 70 ~ 60. Before i was playing 2560x1440.

Yep, at 7:21, a symptom of VRAM instability to watch for, is skipped/dropped frames. Another, is possibly a WHEA error for "Cache Hierarchy Error" as the reason.

It's a shame they don't show us the timing numbers, it currently looks like it does nothing at all. Edit: Maybe it does something with overclocking? Maybe your lower power limit screws it up?

I tried with +15% power limit and up to 2700 Mhz on VRAM after uploading the video. Still no difference.

For VRAM try to increase the clock in 25 MHz increments and find a balanced level with power limit and GPU clock in which the power draw isn't insane for 1 just more FPS.

I think it might just let it boost higher. I've seen my memory clock as high as 2600+ mhz on 6800xt with the setting on even though I have it set to 2150. I used MPT to OC.
