In this video Jon dives into the Pelagic longline fishery and the pending amendment 15. The management of electronic monitoring cost allocation will switch the cost from NOAA to the Commercial fishermen. The cost of camera equipment and the tech support is discussed in the mini documentary.

Wow! I had no idea there were cameras on the vessels or that they are being monitored like that. The fact that the government is forcing this down their throats and then making them foot the bill is outrageous! This a great video and I appreciate what you are doing. Aside from sharing this, what can the average citizen do to help make a change?

Contact your congressman, You can google their email and tell them what's going on, on the coast.

Capt Mark said it perfectly, “they finally have a way to put us out of business completely”. That’s the way commercial fishing families have felt for the last 45 years. The Government Agencies do not have the knowledge or the ability to adapt to changing conditions out there like any one of these fishermen. I personally have never been on a longline boat, but entered the commercial fishing industry full time back in 1982. Between trawl boating, gillnetting, crabbing, hooking for kings, oystering, eeling, etc….. it’s been the same uphill battle with the Agencies. Information you give them is used against you, because their “data” can’t come up to the amount of poundage we could produce. Therefore WE had to be regulated! It’s coming hard and fast to the charter industry, make no doubt. This is why I personally do not trust the science, it’s simply “garbage in/garbage out” with their steady paychecks and benefits we pay for. Yet they’ll sit back and wonder “why aren’t young folks getting into the fishing tradition of making a life”? They’ve done a fine job of devastating an entire proud generational way of life. Good Job NMFS and NCDMF!!!!

So, NOAA comes up with these authoritarian camera system requirements based on false data, then requires the fishing businesses to pay for it all? Do I have that right? WTH??? Maybe it's time to rein in NOAA?

No, we were waiting on the information on how they (the organized institutions) ensured it to become a wreck. Thought there was supposed to be some details about it months ago.
