Unfortunately he nailed nothing. The riff to that part of the song is nothing like what he played. Actually he is playing the whole song wrong and if he played it correctly the song would sound even better. You don't play the main riff using octaves, that is totally wrong, but I understand it probably is his version although the correct way sounds way better.

No I am great at identifying and playing correct bass lines. When my guitar player smiles at me at a critical part of a bass run it's because I played it the correct way, not my version of it.

This is by far the best-performed version outside of the original by America, that I've ever heard anywhere. And I just discovered it 5 minutes ago on KZbin. I'll be sharing this one far and wide.
