Great series. generally im nitpicky about the gun / tactical details in books and movies, but i completely understand thats not everyones forte' and im not the all knowing the story quality also overrides my opinions. That being said, Federal issued Sig Sauer P229/P226 do not have a safety. the only safety is your finger. they only have a decocker lever on the left side to safely bring the hammer forward. Ive carried a former FBI/SS issue P226 for the past decade, carried a P229 as well in that time @38:00

Also, the M24 is a 7.62 Nato rifle, it is possible that someone could have rechambered the rifle. but in a world like this, para military units would likely stray away from oddball calibers due to ammo and barrel availability and would stick to widely used platforms

NOW, if this team happened to have a M24A3, .338 LM would have woken everyone up within a thousand meters instantly. Lapua is an incredibly high power cartridge and is ungodly loud when fired unsuppressed, especially in a dark and quiet environment. probably would have sounded like an explosion being fired in your direction from 460yds away. there would have been no mistaking that noise, even indoors. .338 is a 8.5mm cartridge

Well, not the first time that ive bought a book because of KZbin, but im going to have buy all. Oh my! Silly editing notes. South of Rochester is 390. The Farmington exit is called Shortsville. The Sig doesnt have that safety. A girl doesnt deliver 9 monthes from when she knows - she will figure it out 2-3 monthes in. Just being picky. (And what do have against the Roc? ;-)

So this one is great, there was another one I listened to right after this one but can't remember the name,a different book all together don't even remember the author but remember what is was about loosely,a girl on a plane on the ground,A man with his son pulling a horse trailer going home to Montana,was a gamma ray burst or something very similar.Anyways all of the characters were trying to make it to Montana.If anyone knows the name of the book please post it,thank you.

Probably the only shtf series that i have continued listening to. But with Civil War, I am noticing a clear wash rinse repeat writing blueprint Scott uses for these books. Protagonist group escapes from trouble. Find new home and live peacefully for a months/years. Suddenly have hard contact with a small group of new antagonists. Same good guys die. Some bad guys die. Entire antagonist group marches on protagonist group and gets defeated. Repeat over and over.

It’s the 5.56 nato round not the 7.62 that’s the most common military rifle round. Been being used since before Vietnam.

Great book but you'd assume there would be more guns and ammo. If not from the military the private army. There are plenty of Asians in the US mil not to mention all the private owners & say they had died disease you'd assume there would be guns,ammo, nades, mirrors, & plenty of food esp after they reversed the disease. There should be AK everywhere including ammo plus sensitive info bout the invasion. I enjoy the book but alot of parts seem unrealistic. Like the US wouldn't Hazmat suits or alarm detection systems which would sound off in case they pick up deadly pathogens. And can't believe they'd kill everyone a lot of citizens would bunker down or into the hills until that threat precipitated. And many of these guys would be ex vets or season shooters plus they know the terrain, the bottle necks, also I'm sure many have bought drones given it's efficacy in the field. Very fun book so far Luke Trek is my fav but I still don't understand why they didn't set his wrist rather than do what they did, I mean hook do look cool but ain't worth a shit in combat nvm cauterizing would likely kill him from infections. Good series but I could throw a rock in my neighborhood & likely fit a small to med size platoon & I could like fit most w/ lvl 4 armor mbhelmets, & that's just 1 house. Then we borrow bullet proof tucks,build technicals or better yet borrow some bad ass equipment from you local mil base that is they didnt follow protocols plus always wanted the latest nogs, a couple M2, Mk19, modern TOW missiles & please tell me we got a little bird pilot or pilots & throw in a A10 warhog pilot. We would save & recruit ppl If there not sketchy & the more we do the more men & women we have shooting down range at incompetent robe wearing monks or anyone want smoke. Then slowly rebuild & hoist the fthe stars & stripes, old fagain at the Capital & the Whitehouse.

This is a great series, but you can tell the author is Australian. 8mm is an uncommon caliber to see in an American sniper rifle, and every now and then a bit of The King's English gets slipped in.

More chance of a 8mm in the states then Australia.. you tend to have more German heritage over there to . South Australia here is one of the few places settled with many Germans.

@@matthewcharles5867 most 8mm Mausers in the States came back from Europe after the Wars. There's not a lot of hunting rifles chambered for the 8mm round. Most people converted them to .30-06 or .270 if they wanted to use them to hunt, which is unfortunate, because it's a potent round. I'm sure you see a lot of .303 British in Canada and Australia. I think Crocodile Dundee used one that had been sporterized.

@@jonweaver4987 yeah that's what I was getting at over here the 303 and the 450/ 577 Martini were the most common rounds until probably 15 years ago as far as ex military rounds used for hunting. 8mm very uncommon here I've had the chance to use one once in 35 plus years of hunting. And it was a horrible little ex cavalry carbine we used one day shooting 🐫. Still use a 303 here as a kangaroo gun and 303/22 and 303/25 are still pretty common around Australia.
