Another incredible memory I have playing bass and singing with an artistic giant.
Setlist:
Thank You For Being A Friend
The Final Frontier (Mad About You)
Building A Bridge To Your Heart
Lonely Boy
For the few who have never heard of Andrew Gold, I guarantee you've heard him somewhere. Andrew was a multi-instrumentalist who played guitar, bass, keyboards, accordion, synthesizer, harmonica, saxophone, flute, drums and percussion, and more arcane musical instruments such as ukulele, musette, and harmonium. He was also a producer, sound engineer, film composer, session musician, actor, and painter.
Gold played and recorded with artists such as Linda Ronstadt, Ringo Starr, Don Henley, Eagles, America, James Taylor, Brian Wilson, Roy Orbison, Art Garfunkel, Carly Simon, John Waite, Jennifer Warnes, Jackson Browne, Neil Young, 10cc, Stephen Bishop, America, Loudon Wainwright III, Bonnie Raitt, Nicolette Larson, Maria Muldaur, Kate & Anna McGarrigle, Neil Diamond, Sarah Brightman, Barbi Benton, Eric Carmen, Wynonna Judd, Trisha Yearwood, Rita Coolidge, Juice Newton, Leo Sayer, Freddie Mercury, Karla Bonoff, Bette Midler, Cher, Vince Gill, Eikichi Yazawa, Jesse McCartney and J. D. Souther.
I wish, in some alternative universe, that our national anthem could officially be changed to "Thank You For Being A Friend."

Lonely Boy got me hooked during the summer of 1977 - been listening to What's Wrong With This Picture and All This And Heaven Too consistently for 40+ years. We were lucky to have him. We'll never let him slip away........

Lonely Boy was without a doubt 1 of the greatest songs Andrew Gold ever released! I worked as an on-air DJ For a popular Radio Station and got to interview him in 1987 when he did a concert at Century 2 Auditorium in Wichita Kansas was the 2ed funniest interview that I ever did in all the years that I worked in Radio! And I'm sure that Lonely Boy was the 1st he did in Heaven after he passed away!! Truly a talented songwriter and piano player!! This song does have a video from his 1977 concert where he preformed it!! With his long hair!! It's on KZbin Music

I was fortunate to have seen him in a very intimate setting at Boston's Paradise club in the late 70's. One of my favorite concerts of all time.

@10:51 My theme song during my Senior year of high school :). Matter of fact I made my own music video for "Bridge To Your Heart" as a project for my Broadcasting class and got an A+ on it. I wish I could thank Andrew for the music. To all reading, you have to check out the Wax UK album "American English" in its entirety if you've never heard it before. I believe it's on Spotify now.

I haven't seen this live performance of Andrew Gold previously, but it's great! Some parts of this live performance were placed into a montage for the tune LONELY BOY. This is my all-time favourite Andrew Gold tune as I can so much relate to the lyrics. RIP Andrew, your music still lives on. Thank you for posting this clip. DM :)

All the legendary artists listed by you, let me know why his name is "GOLD". Much regrettable that his face is swollen due to illness. The drummer is really look-like with Matthew Perry. Meanwhile, I knew that you and XQB of Cal Golden Bears are same name with same age after net searching. 😁😁

The lead guitar in Lonely Boy here was pathetic. He missed the licks completely, including those that followed the solo.
