I saw Ryan Grim give an interview after the Intercept report where he pooh-poohed the Toshakhana case, saying that Imran Khan was too rich to need to earn by selling state gifts. I was left completely flummoxed by his confidence in making this statement. I also appreciate him as a journalist but, time and again, we see the cluelessness of American media on topics outside their own country's affairs (same with affairs from India, in my experience).

Yes, you are somewhat obsessed :) Its really difficult to come out of one's bias. Intelligent ones find it even easier to justify. One of the reasons I respect Matiullah Jan is that even after suffering at the hands of PTI, he still has his compass right. PTI supporters will remain like this, Khan would most likely not learn things too, but its a bit distasteful to keep bashing them again and again on the same reasons.

@ThePakistanExperience Btw... while it is correct that in the US, the system is influenced by money from lobbyists/donors. But the notion that just by giving 10000 dollars (or even more). The system moves in one direction.... This is very simplistic as the amount of money moving around is huge in comparison. No US ( and also other countries) like to have "options," especially in changing geopolitical environment( China, Russia, BRICS, etc...). So it is useful for the executive branch to say one thing and the legislative branch to vote the opposite, especially if the vote is symbolic in nature. So your analysis is very simplistic and revolves around IK/PTI and forgets the larger picture..
