isn't the law that you can go 28 mph if you're pedaling legally? On Class 2 mine's a class two. I unlocked the hammer bike it can go 25 I was going to my mom's for dinner yesterday eight miles away and I'm going down a really big hill and you're going 25 downhill you think you'd be going faster but it cuts you down even going downhill. And I know it has more power than that it can go faster than 25 but for me that's way fast enough I need power I want to go camping and Tow loads of wood and camping gear so I can go camping I was surprised you would not believe the amount of wood that I carried on my bike wagon. I probably shouldn't have done it but it did it. I figured my bike would be dead by now I have ridden over 6-in trees going through the woods cuz people put trees in the way I've done a lot of things right through Fields through tractor ruts woodchuck holes it's it is past the test. And what's good about the hammer bike I can still get parts after it's not in warranty they sent me a schematic of the controller I may have to use that someday. The only thing that ever broke on my bike was the crappy kickstand they put them on all the bikes. But it probably wouldn't have broke if I didn't have a load of wood on the back LOL it was only $15 the brakes are hard to find I had to order brakes from Australia last year but I got more of this year from them and rotors and all that stuff flat out which is supposed to be really good better than slime. A place formerly named Bolton e-bikes they have controller packages that fit this to give you a little more power. I don't get paid or anything but I know this man is trustworthy at Area 13 e bikes. I live in New York I ordered tubes from him I had them in 2 days I mean they were shipped immediately. Too bad you got to order from Amazon cuz I don't like that every time you punch in something it comes up Amazon

Speaking of new ebikes, I recently stumbled upon a groundbreaking crowdfunding project called the freebeat Morph 2-in-1 e-Bike. This innovative feature not only provides a convenient way to recharge, but also showcases the bike's versatile nature. I appreciate the commentary provided with all of your ebike reviews and the excellent videography. Are there more powerful fat tire bikes with bigger battery capacity: yes. Are startup companies flooding the US market with these bikes: yes. Do they have the longevity and support system of Rad: no. If I am putting down $2k for a new bike I want to know that there will be a company to stand behind the bike, to supply quality support, to support older components. I own ebikes. I support the concept of ebikes for recreation and transportation. I prefer to support companies with that philosophy over those in it for the fast buck.

That’s definitely why I emphasize that they are headquartered in the US and the big gorilla in the industry. I don’t personally shy away from the other brands, but I think buyers like you are very wise to think the way you do. You just have to know what you’re really getting for the money, and after-purchase support is an important part of that.

Fast forward to June 2023, rad is having huge layoffs and customer service has taken a serious dive. It’s a bummer I didn’t find this out until I just bought one, as other people in my family have raved about them over the years, and I assembled them all to begin with lol. The parts are of fair quality, which kept prices low, but problems are bound to happen, which was fine when they had customer support. Currently there is NO phone or chat customer service. Luckily, I live near a Red show room, otherwise the major problem I had with my new bike would not have been addressed four weeks, if ever. It’s a damn shame.

If you haven’t already bought, you might look at the Bolton Avenger. I’m 73 and recently bought one. Has a great battery and color monitor at a very fair price.it’s foldable and at least 10 lbs lighter.The motor is lower wattage but goes 20 mph easily on a flat surface and I’m around 190.They make a similar model that’s full step through. I’ve been very satisfied. Oh yeah-comes fully assembled except for the monitor. One of the reasons I went with a folding bike was to avoid the roughly $500 for a bike rack that supports this weight . I also like the security factor of keeping it locked in my vehicle. Hope this was of interest.

I've had my Rad Rover 5 now for about 3 years with well over 3,000 miles. I had 2 flat tires in a row just this year so thought it was time to update. I just bought the Rad Rover 6 Plus featured here in you video brand new and it is still in it's box unopened. Before it arrived I got the flat tires fixed on the Rad Rover 5 and it seems to be working well. Now that it is almost September and we are getting some significant rain with muddy rail trails I have only been riding the Rad Rover 5 and have left the 6 plus brand new and left in the unopened box in the garage because I don't want to get this bike dirty like my 5 is now. My question is: Is it ok to just leave the unopened Rad Rover 6 Plus brand new in it's box and just wait until spring time next year to open it and will it be ok - or do I need to open the box before the winter comes and take (THE BATTERY) inside the house ? WE have an unheated garage and I live in Southeastern Michigan where during January and February the nights can get down between 0 - 15 degrees and daytime high's between 20-35 degrees for 2 months straight. Would the cold damage the battery ?

Legally most places allow 28mph when it's pedal assist and 20mph full electric without a license. There are plenty of videos that will show you how to up the max to 25mph on the stock model. I've been riding an ebike since 2015, often commuting 32miles round trip to work. If you follow the rules of the road it is highly unlikely police will stop you, much less dig into your electronic settings to check 28mph max. For example, the famous Bafang BBS02 mid motor allows the user to up the e assist to 32mph. 25mph assist will be plenty if you are using it to commute or go on the roads. Read up on the energy vs additional speed after 18mph. Going any faster without fat wheels and a suspension on mixed terrian won't be safe anyhow, much less with traffic.

Not understanding why they wouldn't boost the batyery amp to at least 19 like juiced bikes. You can get the juiced ripcurrent s for 2200 and more discount if you are military and it has 70+ mi range compared to the 45 on the rover plus. Would you recommend the ripcurrent s over plus if they were the same price at 2k?
@TheTechofTech3 жыл бұрын
The RipCurrent S has a much larger motor, much larger battery, 52V electrical system, fully hydraulic brakes, torque sensing PAS, trigger shifter, super bright headlight… They will never be the same price because the RipCurrent S has much more expensive components.

One correction that I would like to point out is that all tools required for assembly are NOT included (4.28-minute mark). I was a little disappointed to find out that I needed to spend another $40 for a torque wrench and $18 for a pedal wrench. I'm sure some people will just hand tighten to what "feels" right to them but I am detail oriented and want to make sure the bike is assembled to manufacturer specs.

@TheTechofTech3 жыл бұрын
I have no idea what % grade anything is. A small but very enthusiastic percentage of ebike owners like to modify their ebikes for more power, and an aftermarket controller is one way to do it. It of course voids your warranty and increases your risk of damage to your motor, but some are fine with those risks. As I mention in the video, I’m not one of those people, but I do understand the appeal. Thanks for watching!

I bought these bikes last November and it has been a total nightmare. Customer service has been responsive in the fact that they have given me a couple of laundry lists of things to do in order to fix the problem I have (bike won't power up), none of which have worked. They have sent me a couple of parts to swap out but that hasn't fixed it either. I know it's a product issue and not an assembly matter. I took the bike in the box to my local bike shop for assembly since I didn't want any issues and thought a pro would be the best way to go. I purchased 2 of these bikes and although one has worked perfectly, one hasn't been able to be fixed. Over three months in and I have yet to be able to ride this thing. Very disappointed! I purchased these bikes and the Hollywood rack for my motorhome to use while on vacation so we wouldn't have to have a car. That would have been a good plan had it worked.

Any bike, two-wheeled vehicle, from a huge motorcycle to a conventional bicycle, is dangerous on a mixed vehicular road. The faster is goes, the greater the danger, but even the pedaled bicycle is very risky on a share-the-road, city street. In my city, St Petersburg, FL, where many housing developers have been permitted to build without providing sidewalks, there an additional danger where sidewalks exist. The danger comes from the trees whose roots are at or below the soil's surface and break through sidewalks or simply raise them, creating major discontinuities. Bicyclers often have no choice but to share-the-road, drivers permitting. To spend close to two-thousand dollars on an electric bike under such conditions is insane. Maybe in a sparsely populated suburb - if there are any - or in a rural area! In a city, even one without snow in the winter? Lunacy!

I've downhilled at over 50mph on a triathlon bike in aerobars. No brakes. I'm not impressed with any speed you've experienced on Z-rated tires, with a motor providing the power, and three disc brakes available to stop you. lol

I have the new 6 step through. I've had to replace the motor controller 3 times . This bike has a very small conventional front axle which can come loose from the quick release arm contacting the brake rotor. Also the frame geometry leads to a death wobble. The bike will go anywhere but it may also leave you stranded. I will not be buying another rad bike because this product is dangerous and unreliable.

Never trust a full review by anyone that is sponsored by the manufacturer or get their stuff for FREEEEEEE..Their just pushing their product on to you..

You are so wrong about the speed evidently you do not know how to make it do 34 mi an hour that's for sure. Yes it is capable of that just by using three buttons on the left controller

It’s sad that Rad motors are always so weak.

I'm not watching this video because Rad sez their bikes are 750 watt when they are only 500 continuous. Such a lie they tell.

Number one selling. Says who? You? I wouldn't waste a dollar on one of these junk bikes. They have no customer service, don't honor warranties, and have been known to sell faulty controllers out of the box. Their customer service is a scam. They make you buy a new bike rather than help sell replacement parts. #SarahR.
