On a shockingly recent season there was a Latina woman, and even though THEY dressed her and she posed in EXACTLY THE SAME WAY as the other contestants, the judges kept saying that she was too “sexual”. At one point they said she belonged on maxim, not vogue, when she was dressed and had her makeup done BY THEM and she posed EXACTLY THE SAME as the other models. At one point she literally asked them “well what do you want me to do about it?” And the judges GOT MAD AT HER. WTF VH1???

@Miss Kirika as per previous criticisms on the show, we are all the same, but we are all different, look wise, built differently. Hence, a skinny girl flat chested can get away with more overt sexuality in photographs where as someone more hour glasses shaped with fuller conventional Victoria Secret facial features cannot. Hence all the way in cycle 2, Bethany, think masculine, hunched, accentuate other features while minimizing others to avoid that perception, hence in cycle 8, the women's magazine shoot vs the men's magazine shoot concept. Come on guys, this selective outrage when all this info is readily available online everywhere....a more apt criticism would be a girl given high fashion clothes to model with the challenge to not look like a clown vs another girl given clown makeup and clown clothes and told not to model like a clown. This has ACTUALLY HAPPENED BEFORE and is far more unfair and biased.

For the girl that was called being defensive even if she was being defensive that is not an unattractive trait. It shows that you know how to stand up and take care of yourself. I'm not a girl but I see it almost every day when a woman is defending herself people look at her like she is being a bitch. Woman can and should defend themselves and no one else should shame them for it.

let’s not forget when tyra tried to have that poor girl close her gap, and then a few season later.. had a girl with a gap as ANTM… dh🤦🏽♂️ 8:50 they just loved to gas lighting and manipulate ppl on this show that sh!t is wild. she’s not “being defensive” she explained herself and pretty well for someone who just got attacked by a bunch of white ppl for THEIR culture and everyone’s just standing around not saying sh!t.

So the judges were bullying the African woman because she didn’t want to wear the (non authentic) African hat, but were sick of her proving her African background... America is so twisted.
@aw3504 жыл бұрын
Then they also get white girls to act as African women...

Do not assume that all Americans agree with this.

They would have told her she was being predictable and not taking enough risks if she picked it anyway. They were ready to criticize Yaya either way.

And Tyra didnt say anything to defend her? Like damn. Those judges should have gotten ripped into for saying things like that

Mara L wasn’t that movie a satire commenting on black face? Pay attention darling.
@enouement46704 жыл бұрын
@Mara L your point was very uneducated and showed the lack of research.
@jeremiahsands61634 жыл бұрын
@Mara L There was literally nothing powerful about doing black face on white women. If they wanted to do a photoshoot that way then they should have used the African American models instead of the white girls. Black face is not okay period.

Jeremiah Sands It’s been forever since I have seen that season but I think the photo shoot was about doing different races. I don’t completely remember though.

They told her she was dressing "too African" but wanted her to wear a stereotypical African hat? I am the confused. I thought the model looked cute in that outfit, personally.

I have never seen your channel before and I love you! I watched a bunch of the series a year or so ago and moved from "this is so fun" to "WTF?!" over time. I missed the one with the blackface. WTF?! How does a black woman allow that to happen on her show? And how did she not get cancelled as a result of the backlash. There was none? How is that possible! And the girl who said all the hateful things on video, how did she even get to the part of the show where there is real competition? She was evil, but the girl with "no persona" was sent home? Oh, and btw, you could surely be a model. You are absolutely stunning!

I could never watch this when it first aired because Tyra's yelling was scary.

Tyra ep 3: Yaya i love that you rock dreads and want to represent as a proud african american woman. Tyra ep 8: Yaya I hate that you changed your hair (pinned it down), take the pins out being west meets east, your afro, yes gorgeous! Tyra ep 12: Yaya I want some white guy out in the middle of nowhere Idaho who's never seen anyone like you before, your dark skin, your big afro, wearing a dashiki and go woah, that's beautiful too." Are you confusing and conflating Tyra, a black woman, with Rebecca Weinburg, the white "fashion" stylist GUEST judge that week? Yes ofc.

@@RecoveringChristian Just cause she praised her in different episodes, doesn’t mean it was right for her to sit back and observe racism from her colleague.
@RecoveringChristian3 жыл бұрын
@@sorryimwrong433 not her collegue, a guest judge with a fake emmy (who's made her Twitter private suddenly). If you bothered to watch the entire exchange at panel (plus Yaya's critiques at panel on previous episodes) and the entire exchange between Yaya and Rebecca during closet walkthroughs and THEN the entire exchange between Yaya and Tocarra, you'd realize the conversation is way more nuanced than eww racism. But no one here is going to do that ;) why do work and be informed when you can let other people tell you what to be outraged by. At best, she's ignorant and tone deaf, at worst a bigot. Also that was a sample of SOME things said, not counting the main cast of judges who repeatedly gush about how much they adore Yaya and her physical beauty.

ember I mean yea she did look offended but still. If she didn't want to publicly defend she should have either keep her mouth or praise her. She came at her hella rude, she was no different than the other white people. If I was that girl I would have been hella disappointed that the only other black person was tearing me down as well
