My Grandmother worked as a Labor and Delivery nurse until her mid 80s. She would have worked longer but they closed the last hospital in town that did deliveries. She never learned to drive so she couldn't commute. She died at 105.

What a star. She reminds me of a young colleague’s granny here, who’s a whisker away from turning 80, but busies herself as a community nurse. I think her days see her rising at 6am, and working from about 7am to 7 or 8pm (with a few hours of break) most days of the week, looking after what she calls “her old people” around the area, when she’s hardly a spring chicken herself! That schedule of hers would tire me (49) out! Best of luck to This particular old lady, and thank you to all medical staff and healthcare workers, but especially to those like this old lady who worked their whole lives to help others.

She's been a nurse since 1951. I wish I could've met her. My favorite decade is the 1950s, and she is a testament to the fact that just like now, nurses in the 1950s cared for their patients with more than just their knowledge, but their heart as well.

I would usually object to a 96 yo still driving 🚗 🙄, but in her case as fast as she was moving around in the hospital 🏥 I feel like she's okay on the road

I think that her working as long as she has has contributed to her being very sharp; much more than someone who retired at the standard age. She's exceptional. I'm sure that if her judgement and 'reaction time' wasn't good she would have been let go as a nurse.
