In May of next year, it will be 30 years since the MD-80 has been in service with American Airlines.

You mean a 30 year old plane lol :) The MD-80s turned 30 this year.

@tommybass40 The MD-80 I flew on on my 4th flight ever on January 17th, 2011 was 23... made February 1988 lol. But some MD-80s were made up to the late 1990s, making them about 12-15 years old now. On the other hand, some were made in the early 1980s... they might be 30+ years old! June 29, 2011 3:16 am

Whenever I book a flight on American I dread whenever the flight info says "MD-80"...... I don't want to fly on a 25 year old plane, dammit!
