This lounge looks and feels cold and sterile to me. I think they need to warm it up with some flowers and/or inside plants. However, that floor to ceiling glass is a game changer. All I really want from a lounge is decent food and a comfortable place to eat & work, while enjoying the outside view. I would definitely visit this lounge given the opportunity. There are a lot of great lounges around the world with tremendous views. I think the view of the aircraft and the Chicago skyline was right up there with some of the best. My personal favorite is the Delta SkyTeam lounge at SFO. The view of the aircraft arriving and departing is excellent as well a great view of the San Francisco Bay and then the San Mateo and Dumbarton bridges. I give an honorable mention to the Swissair lounge at Zurich for their open-air seating options there.

Thanks for your comment - I'll keep the lounges you mentioned with good views in mind for future trips (Delta in SFO sounds great!) The view that night in the Flagship Lounge was magical - I was so sad when I saw that it wasn't captured adequately in the photos or videos. And I 100% agree with you that they could use some plants and flowers!

It reminded me of a hospital minus the alcohol. Although clean is always a plus! Thanks for another great review!

If I remember correctly, there is a very nice quiet room in the admirals lounge. It had dim lights and flat seats to completely lie down. I’m not sure if I’m mistaking it for a different lounge though.

In the Admiral's Lounge as opposed to the Flagship Lounge? That's surprising to me, but I haven't been in the Admiral's Lounge, so you may be correct.

Having been to the United Polaris lounges at Chicago, SF and LA, the new Delta One lounge at JFK and the Flagship lounges at DFW and LAX, I think the AA Flagship lounge is the best hands down. Now yes, some lounge purists are right in saying, technically United has better food options. After all they have sit down dining, hard to beat that. And with the Delta One lounge it's very spacious and the cafeteria concept is very appealing. The problem with the United Polaris and Delta One lounges though is you must be travelling inter-continental business on themselves or a partner. Which is fine if you exclusively travel internationally, but what about those of us who travel primarily domestically? This is where the Flagship lounge wins hands down. I can be travelling from Chicago to LA on American or LA to Seattle on Alaska in economy and have access to that lounge with my Qantas Platinum status. Oh and the other thing, access is on departure, connection or arrival. So that flight from Chicago to LA? I get to double dip: enjoying the flagship lounge in Chicago then enjoying it again in LA before heading out. Hard to beat that!

For you, your preference makes total sense. But for me, I like when the lounge only allows passengers from international flights because it reduces crowding.
@j2simpso2 ай бұрын
@@MelsMilesandPoints it may reduce crowding. I mean the Polaris lounge can get quite packed. Also, Flagship lounge access is only available when travelling domestically only if you hold OneWorld status with a foreign airline or ConciergeKey or the handful of premium transcontinental routes. So a fairly limited crowd there. I mean who is going to be flying regularly domestically if they hold foreign OneWorld status? For instance, holding Qantas Platinum I need to take 4 Qantas flights every year (plus earn the requisite status credits) to keep my status.

Thank you for another comprehensive review. We’ve been flying out of ORD on AA/ Oneworld for over 35 years. This lounge is very busy since anyone that is Oneworld sapphire has access to this lounge. Now that BA is also departing from terminal 3, makes the lounge busier. I wonder how AA is going to accommodate the BA F passengers that are used to pre flight dining?

Thanks for watching! Overcrowding is becoming an issue in so many lounges unfortunately.

I agree… Polaris Lounges are better than the A/A Flagship Lounges. I was a United 1K for 8 years before I switched my alliance to British Airways. As a B.A. Gold (One World Emerald) status, I use the Flagship or any first class lounge available if I don’t have a B.A. first class lounge available.
