They take my grandson tablet from him and wanted the parents to pay $2000.00 to get back the tablet for the child. This is scamming. St John's primary school at St John's road in Spanish Town. All the children that are on part of the pay for the lunch else they are not receiving any lunch at school.

From my experience checking in on my nephew’s grade 4 WhatsApp group, the teachers are very engaged. It’s the parents who don’t care. I see the teachers begging the parents to ensure the students study and do homework. My recommendation is that the Ministry engages the parents, and check up on the ones who don’t send the children to school regularly. I have that problem with my nephew’s parents, who don’t prioritize their child’s education. I wish the Ministry would do more for the students who are often absent. They don’t even check in with the parents, and many of these parents do not care. The teachers can only do so much.

Not because we do not access the books you provide doesn't mean we don't engage students with tools reflective of the 4th industrial revolution era. We make use of tools and resources that are available for teachers online and we partner with other teachers in the region and worldwide. Many of the materials we use come from assessments of our individual students and we seek resources that cater to the students we have. You stay in your office and tend to make comments without knowing what is truly happening in our schools. Tell your officers to make more visits to the schools to have first hand feedback on what is happening in the schools. Though i do agree that some teachers are lagging, but proper supervision by schools and your officers should assist in mitigating this issue.

Right now, I'm having such a challenges because teachers don't have lesson plans and there are resources, templates etc provided by the ministry... My school is still on the shift system so my teachers are present at school for half of the day, yet they are still not performing up to par

Teachers and Principals are clinging desperate to the pass. Afraid of changes and seeing change as negative. Perhaps its a fair regarding competence. Perhaps a fair of the unfamiliar. However, it is holding our education system back. Education should set the pace not be struggling to keep up with an evolving world. And its not just with tech, its with embracing STEM, evolving afrocentric standards that celebrate blackness as beautiful, acceptable and normal. MOE needs to stop being suggestive and be more authoritarian in more regards. These same Teachers migrate and quickly assimilate because they have no choice but to. We need to demand the same for our own children!
