Grand Funk Railroad was America's band. All 3 members are still alive but because of a petty feud they refuse to reform. Don and Mel on one side and Mark on the other and it doesn't appear they will ever settle their differences. A lot of great music from this band. The biggest travesty is Grand Funk not being in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. One of the reason that I have no respect for that entity. If you need stuff for your wall you should set up a Post Office box so your fans and subs can send you things. You may be pleasantly surprised. Just put it in your "About" and see what happens. Saw an interview with Mark [Farner] where he talked about how he was sort of tricked into signing away his rights to the band. If you look him up you'll probably run into the interview on YT. He wasn't whining though. He was just matter-of-fact about it.

Man, I was 23 sittin' in a bar on 5th Avenue in New Kensington, PA (look it up) when I discovered this new tune by Grand Funk on the "jukebox". Needless to say, my reaction to this tune was, and still is, pretty much the same as Son's.

the hyear of that sonf was 1973 !!!!!!!!!!!!actually over the 2nd half of 1973 IT WAS NUMBER 1 IN THE USA !!!!!!!!!!!!! the lp itself states that "IT SHOULD BE PLAYED LOUD TO THE MAX"!!!!!! i agree !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! a singing drummer is not common in rock and roll !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Back in 73 when I was 14 my first album was GFRs 1st live album. They're still my all time favorite band. Check out ' The Railroad ' from this same album.

They tuned more more jazzy/proggy with Phoenix (with the great violonist Doug Kershaw ), then went back to more like stadium rock. Black Licorice was my favourite. Then Railroad from that album. Some Kind Of Wonderful was great later on.

How about listening to Frankenstein by the Edgar Winters Group to hear one of the songs that defined a generation?! I'm sure your dad knows this one! I suggest you first listen and review the studio (radio) version, which is what most people from our generation are familiar with here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bGa7hHuDaM-fd7s Then give yourself a treat and go to this video to see the pure talent of Edgar Winters as he seamlessly goes from playing a keyboard (which is slung on his shoulders!), then to a saxophone (with the keyboard still slung on his shoulders!), then to drums, etc., while jamming a longer version of Frankenstein with his group. There are two sets of drums played during this song, and I'm pretty sure that's his brother playing the other set of drums. I'll eat my hat if you're not impressed! Such a good song...it very good vibe to it, kinda like you guys. Check out the GFR song "Some Kind of Wonderful" and then listen to Cry Of Love "Peace Pipe"...both are great, catchy songs, but you can totally hear where Cry of Love got their influence on that song haha! My brother used to play in a garage band and used to cover GFR, The Who, CCR, The Stones, and a few other bands. They are another band whose discography I have not looked into...I only know the hits that were played on the radio, so I can't offer much of anything as far as suggestions. I heard a parody song of this many years ago called "We Are Ukrainian Band'...funny stuff lol! Cheers!
