Glad everybody likes this! What's weird is that I found it on a "reel" of odds and ends clips of old TV shows, movies and ads and this was somewhere in the middle.....just out of nowhere. Nothing else on the reel had any music clips of any kind. When I saw this, I knew I just HAD to send it to Aron so he could share it with everybody here.

Thanks Gary and Aaron. Yep, the regulars hit the front line by hook or by crook. LOL. According to early 60’s regular Arlene Sullivan production more or less monitored who got the face time during each episode. Those who were frequently up front and center were some asked to drop back to make way for others. Also, once dancers reached age 18 they were invited to leave the show. Far more rigid about the age constraints than what the future would bring. Great clip. Thanks for the upload!

Awkward energy is always better than an awkward lack of energy. As a DJ I can tell you I've seen some extremely awkward situations while DJing events. Like when I did a children vs parents dance contest during an elementary school dance, and I put all the children on one side of the room and all the adults on the other side. Everyone was instructed to dance like crazy and do all their best dance moves. I started the music and looked up and saw that many of the young children were dancing but literally no adults were dancing at all. Instead the all just stood there completely motionless and staring at me for some reason with blank looks on their faces. That's how they stayed throughout the entire dance contest, and of course the kids won. A DJ friend of mine later told me that most people nowadays have no idea how to dance. So if you don't instruct them on specific dance moves that they need to do, they are completely clueless.

They had a great career singing popular music. 9 or 10 months from this air date, the long skirts would be gone and the young girls would run to the stores to buy mini-skirts.
