Great info and little history and lineage. Wow, AB a top 5? Glad I have one, now waiting for flowers! Thanks Paul!

AB is always a winner no matter what the brix says. So consistent and overall tough plant. AB, SD, Dark Star I've never gone wrong.

I’ve tasted the American Beauty variety dragon fruit before and to me, it has a sweet grape/ pomegranate like flavor to it. I even have this variety growing. Can’t wait to possibly get fruits from it next year.

Yes, if they are picked a bit earlier than this fruit, it will be more tart like a pomegranate. I like them sweeter

Great! So What would be the the top 5 to grow ?
@RAREDRAGONFRUIT2 жыл бұрын
That's a hard question. I'd probably grow AB, Purple Haze, LaVerne Pink, a red fleshed variety that is sweet, and a purple flowering variety like one of the Asunta plants.

Awesome! I want to grow this variety! What varieties do you recommend for the Beaumont area of California?
@RAREDRAGONFRUIT2 жыл бұрын
Beaumont seems to have a similar temp range to Northern SD. I'd recommend Physical Graffiti, Dark Star, American Beauty, Sugar Dragon... many others we feature on our channel.

So If the ab fruit is not turning red during 43 or 45 days, do we still harvest the AB or do we leave it on the branch until it turn red?
@RAREDRAGONFRUIT2 жыл бұрын
I'd check for cracking and wiggle it. If it wiggles up and down and side to side, like a loose tooth, it's ready to harvest.
