Flew one overthe weekend as my first flight... what an easy aircraft to fly. Can't wait for more sessions.

When it's minus fourty out the only way to start is to make all switches are off, turn the prop backwards to loosen the engine, prime about 10 pumps then do a complete walk-around. Then with the brakes on or the tail tied down and all switches off turn the prop by hand forewards to suck evaporated gas into the cylinders. Then follow your startup procedure. At minus fourty you need a lot of time from priming to starting. This was taught to me by an old bush pilot and no matter how cold it was the engine fired right up. Also the heater was a one foot warmer.

Good video. I have had a 1974 Citabria for 18 years. I like his suggestion about priming the carburetor. I always pump 3 or 4 times. I can't wait to try 6 when the temperature is cold and 2 when the temperature is warm. But I don't like to run at 1,000 RPM until the oil temperature is 100 degrees.

How does a pillow on the windscreen help teach someone to fly a taildragger? Maybe an idea for a future video?
