By the way, Leon Schuster was ahead of his time given the context of when this movie was shot. When he said “he is black and you are black”, he was pushing the boundaries given the political landscape and tension in our country at the time…ie he knew it would get a reaction from his diverse South African audience. Leon is considered a racist by some and not by others here in SA. There was an outcry about this on social media. Some say they have always hated his movies. People must not speak on behalf South Africans. Some of us feel the same way as you guys. People must not come here and say Americans are sensitive when we have gone and are going the same kaak. Race is a sensitive issue. There will always be a Sambo I guess.
