This is when Americans took pride in the Constitution and the American flag. Many people today take too much for granted they are about to lose their freedom if they don't wake up.

I was lucky enough to see one of these performances live (1976 SCV) and actually be a member of another (2007 KAC). Anybody who feels that a color presentation has no place in drum corps today need only look at the audience reaction to the senior corps. "nuff said.

I was in drum corps 1982 and 83. I love the 1970s drum corps and through the 80s. After that my enthusiasm gets kinda fuzzy. But let's all try not to be like our parents. Remember when you were a teenager and the hated the music you listened to?

Marched with a high school band back in the day and we played the Troopers Battle Hymn,but the fanfare closing was from the Royal Aires. Pretty much note for note.

I think some corps are embracing some of the traditional concept we participated in in the Sixties and Seventies. But it would take discipline and stamina for them to per form M & M show the full 100 yds. That's starting line to end line, that's what we old timers did.

@pearlsnaredrummer77 Amen Pearl, the costumes among some of these color guard members don't seem to be appropriate. I don't evaluate all color guards this way however. Forgive for bring a moralist but this is an indication of degradation of people in our society, particularly of young people. My girlfriend and I are believers in Christ, so I tend to take this view.

It has been and still is extremely disappointing to me and other old timers that the one Drum and Bugle Corps that could, should and doesn’t present the colors as well as any of these corps’ is the United States Marine Drum and Bugle Corps. If they don’t present the colors and perform a selection of their own John Phillip Sousa’s marches who will?

Why all DCI corps ? There were just as many great DCA Color Presentations not represented here, especially before and after DCI came into existence.
@ComputerSleuth210 жыл бұрын
If you look at the number of competition corps (bands) today, vs. the numbers in the sixties and early seventies, it's clear that DCI is destroying the very 'activity' they were instituted to promote. I say, re-institute (real) marching, bring back 'G' bugles, and get rid of the electronics.

Yeah couldn't agree more. The gooood old days when the Veterans organizations, the catholic church, and the fire department ran drum corps. When Tony ....hicccup...Schlecter could threaten a corps with a 2 penalty for having the audacity to have a peace sign in their drill, when directors killed drum majors and corps had absolutely no control. BTW I started marching in 67 and my corp was sponsored by a catholic church, a shining example of morality and probity. The lower case c is deliberate.
