American Eagle E175 Main Cabin - Key West to Miami

After a short but very nice stay in the continental USA's southernmost town, Key West, it was time for me to start heading back up north. The experience of flying out of EYW is truly unique and old school - something I really tend to like. Sure it's not the most efficient method, but it's definitely the most exciting and interesting haha. For such a quick flight on Republic Airways, it was really good. We arrived on time, had an amazing crew, and for 27 minutes of flying time, the onboard product was great. Obviously if the flight was longer, I'd expect a service, working WiFi/IFE, and maybe some plugs, but as far as this one...nothing to complain about. Republic Airways has long been my favorite regional airline in the US and this flight just proves my point. Hope you guys enjoy!

I’m really hopeful that things will eventually get better with Covid. I have not traveled in an aircraft for 20 years. I’ve experienced Delta, United and American Airlines in my earlier years. Glad to see that planes have improved since then!

Republic or "brickyard" as they are called by ATC on the radio;) It is definitely one of the regional airlines I would consider applying to in a few years when I hit the magical 1500 hours flying time. Great views indeed.

Sir you did a great job!!!! Your editing and narrating was superb!!!! I appreciate the fact you flew coach and enjoyed the views out the window. I former avgeek globetrekker, that is how I did my avgeek travels before social media. It's amazing air florida flew that route from Miami in the 70s and 80s with DC-9s and 737s, Air Tran flew from Atlanta in the late 90s with its 737s. Going to subscribe to your channel.

Very nice! Your boarding at Key West reminded me of my boarding at San Diego in 1990- back in 1990 San Diego was going through major renovations and upgrades so I had to board the 737 to CLE from the plane stairs, which was interesting to me as was being on the tarmac itself as well. Very nice ride, great views, love seeing your stuff.

You can get that "small island boarding" feeling here in Dominica. AA recently launched a new service from MIA - DOM, and you walk to/from the terminal to board via the ramp stairs.

Key west is a fun place. Oddly enough I was there about 5 months after you. I flew this same route but at 6am on my way back to Colorado. I hope to go back at some point 🤞 I hope AA will bring back the magazine. Great souvenir and advertising (aka future trip planning)

Don't know if you noticed that while the FAA/IATA identifier is EYW, the ICAO designation of KEYW makes a lot more sense. Great video.

I've done this flight a thousand times but from Tampa to Key West. I usually fly on Silver Airways and their ATR 42 and Saab 340. Great flight bud

Hey Chris... Your -"What the????" at time mark 8:03 is Piaggio Turbo-prop business aircraft. Its of a similar vintage to the Beechcraft Star Ship. When I went to Key West eons ago (that's about 30 years), there were no jet aircraft servicing that airport (at least I don't recall). Piston bangers and turbo-props. My how things change over time. The airport was also not that crowded. Cheers....

I don’t need entertainment when the flight is 27 minutes or an hour because there is the view and which is entertaining . I don’t like using my phone on the airplane because I feel sick looking at my phone while the airplane is flying

If you want a really short flight without leaving North America I’d recommend Little Cayman to Cayman Brac. Average flight time is less than 10 minutes and doesn’t even climb above 1,000 feet. The flight is with Cayman Airways Express on a DHC-6 Twin Otter.

Chris, you are easily one of my favorite KZbinrs, if not my favorite. Your videos stand out because you avoid inserting yourself at the center of them, unlike so many other KZbinrs (aka "influencers"). In routinely avoiding the spotlight, you acknowledge that your travel videos are about travel, not about you. You rightly maintained focus on the travel, the scenery, and the overall quality of the air service. And, by using scrolling text, you were able to share opinions and observations unobtrusively. The scrolling text complemented your videos because it was simple and effective. It enhanced the overall enjoyment of the videos and it also enhanced the quality of the videos. These were all your signature elements. However, in adding voice over to your newer videos, Chris, you are fundamentally changing the feel of your videos. There was a certain artistry to the videos that contained little or no voice over. Chaplin's primary criticism of the talkies is that they lacked the artistry of silent films. Your other videos were effective because the images and the occasional scrolling text were the only elements that you needed in order to tell your story. The newer videos with the voice over have a clunky, novice, and campy vibe. It's analogous to covering a ribeye in catsup. The voice over is unnecessary, its distracting, and it kills the artistic "vibe" of thejazzguy13 videos. Chris, if you intend to continue using voice in future videos, I strongly encourage you to learn techniques that ensure that the voice over enhances the video. You should also consider investing in elocution lessons.

I wondered how EYW was going to handle the PAX surge. The infrustructure is designed for prop ops to local destinations. Silver is perfect for the current setup. It was never designed for mainline aircraft flying 2 hour legs. Wifi only works above 10000' so you probably had already decended past there if you ever were there.
