I'm learning french lately and am troubled a lot by the liaison rules in the pronunciation. KZbin recommended this video and I found it super helpful. This is truly amazing to be able to reverse engineer the pronunciation rules in oral English which most people took it for granted. Thanks Alex!

I am a Portuguese native speaker and the most hard thing to me are all the English vowels. All the possibilities of vowel sounds for hat, het, hit, hot, hut, high, hey, and how are terrible. And I often cannot differentiate man from men when spoken. Hard stuff.

Welcome! The /s/ sound is made in the same place as the /t/ sound. When I was a kid, actually, I had a hard time saying /s/ correctly too! Once I realized that my tongue should be in the same place for /s/ and /t/, it became a lot easier.

What would Americans feel if I pronounced the -t- in words like 'little' and 'metal' using the normal hard T sound? Would that be unnatural? Because this flap T sound is too hard for me. Thanks!

Good question! It would just sound a little strange, but not wrong. Everyone would understand you and most people wouldn't consciously notice the difference.
