Hi, just run across your site. I was given by my older brother, his American Flyer train sets along with a complete Erector set # 8 1/2 . The two train sets are from the 1930's , The City of Denver is a four car set with a mechanical whistle car, it runs on a 4 rail track for the whistle car. The Locomotive has the # 425 stamped on it and the Vanderbilt tender just says American Flyer. It has the green gondola, red and white box car, silver tank car, red search light car, yellow wrecker car and red caboose. There are two transformers, mod.1283, 100 watt goes with City of Denver. Mod. 7B 75 watt with the locomotive. Several un-coupler tracks for the loco, along with a goodly amount of American Flyer track, X crossings, curve and switch track. The train sets have been put away since my boys grew up, maybe 40 years now. The Erector set, my one son made the Walking Beam steam engine for science class in the 80's. The teacher was so impressed, as no one had seen an Erector set before. Brought in several classes just to watch it work. Looks like you have a large collection of Lionel cars, nice set up.

I have this engine with the correct tender, the 4-8-4 Northern (Challenger in Gilbert parlance. ) AWESOME engines, great pulling power. Better than almost anything lionel built prewar.

Marx guy here, impressive Flyer, I`m still stressed out on squeezing a Marx motor into my Flyer prewar 420 shell.
