d diminished 7th has a Cb, whereas Dm7b5 has a C natural. This is a joke, referencing Vox's video on how Dm7b5 makes music sound like Christmas, which is kind of very wrong because there's a lot of non-Christmas songs that use the chord.

Is it just me but did they just made an allusion about how they've grow up? I mean, if you think about it, this video has the same format as Never Meant. A couple that looks like they are perfect and complete each other but, as the time goes by, things just get bad and they end up breaking up. The only difference is that on Never Meant, it's a teenage couple, having fun at parties, and etc. But here it's a married couple that have fun on their day to day living. Also I wanna compare this to the growth of the band as a whole. I mean, if you compare LP1 with LP2 (and apparently, LP3 too). We could see a complete emo band formed by teens at the american midwest trying to get out of their chest everything they want to say about their hearts that were broken: "Let's just pretend everything and anything between you and me was never meant". But here (and also on LP2) we have married men with more mature relationships that not just suffers about their broken hearts, but use more metaphors to demonstrate it: "The muscle memory continue to haunt me". We can see this if you compare the two videos. The first one is a teenage couple that had met on a record store, and we focus on the fun they had together, little things like, listening to music together, taking pics, walking on the park and etc... But here we already begin with a metaphor about how the man, alone and lost meet the woman of his life: he just wakes up on the middle of nowhere and finds her, and it feels like they were *meant* to be together (see what i did here?). Also now we have some focus on their wedding rings and their conversations at table, her having some laughs at some bad jokes... But there's two things that we've found in common, and that is the two videos have this moment where the couples are apart and it just feels strange, kinda like they were *NEVER MEANT* and had just realized that. The other thing is that on both songs we can feel the composers' hearts broken. Also ours.

Great analysis man- I think you're bang on the money. And hence the title Silhouettes! We may get older and our faces wrinkle and change, but our Silhouettes will always stay the same
@neilski19635 жыл бұрын
@@dmpunk I get what you are saying...a silhouette is just..."Your shape", but as you get older...the hair will thin or disappear, the posture will slouch, stoop and bend, the body will widen or thin, so, a silhouette will change as much as the person hiding behind it. And thats just in a still image, but a moving image will give away even more truth`s. But, the brain can be forever young! CAN BE!! Some of the shit i do, watch and listen to, act and think, i`m still 18, but my aches, pains and bodily limitations...remind me every day, i`m 55...haha! Great tune tho.
@joez62355 жыл бұрын
Nah, growing up and couples growing apart are just common themes across all their music. Even on LP1 there is the line "Honestly I can't remember all my teenage feelings and their meanings". Mike's just sad about getting older and seeing relationships fall apart, I don't think it's some meta message about the band itself.

0:11 We find the main character waking up in a patch of dirt. This represents the first time he woke up, alone, after cheating on his spouse. Again and again, every time he wakes up, he must brush off the dirt of what he's done, and he awakes in a place that doesn't seem familiar. The place is his home, but it's different, because he must live with his actions now. 1:41 He wanders off in search of some sort of meaning now that his family stability is gone. He doesn't find it. 3:20 His wife is searching for answers in her own way, the exact opposite direction of our main character. 3:46 They are back together, but loosely holding each others' hands. The passion is dead. We now have a montage, the memories, the feelings shared between them before all this happened. Interspersed with their good memories is the lobby of their apartment. Day in, day out, the feelings of monotony they are both feeling at this point are overwhelming. This is likely what led our main character to stray from his wife. 5:14 Over and over again, he remembers his actions, every night when he goes to bed, and every morning when he rises. He can't escape this feeling of being lost, nothing making sense anymore. 6:30 Our main character breaks down. He searches for his wife, who has gone to bed in the dirt, a sign of her acceptance of what has happened, and an acknowledgement that in the end she still loves our main character and cares more about him than her contempt for his actions, which to her feel cold and dirty, akin to sleeping in the muddy grass. They go to bed together in the dirt, meaning they both have accepted this and moved on, albeit clothed and sleeping in the dirt. The fact they are clothed means they are no longer able to bare their emotions to each other. They are no longer capable of revealing their truly naked selves. Cheating on your spouse... the crime of the century. I wonder how many people relate to this video. I'm certainly glad I can't relate in that way, but it opens my eyes to the feelings and guilt that must come if you
