I agree, this is Morissette's one of the best songs and it's her original as well. I think the reason this song is not really too popular even in the Philippines because of the degree of difficulty this song entails. I don't remember a seasoned and professional singer in the Philippines who had the guts to try and sing this song.

Well, the Wish Bus performance of Akin Ka Na Lang *is* legendary, so I understand why people love it so much 😊 A lot of people are also dazzled by her whistle notes and long riffs and runs. For me though, Naririnig Mo Ba shows an emotional vulnerability that surpasses Akin Ka Na Lang ... plus the melody and arrangement are gorgeous.

@@yoojin3877 I think Yoojin is correct. Akin Ka Na Lang is more popular because people are obsessed with Whistle notes. To be honest, I actually kind of find the first half of Akin Ka Na Lang a little boring and repetitive. I'm sure I'm going to get flamed for saying that, but just remember, it is just a personal opinion. I still love Mori dearly. I just find the first half of that song repetitive and it gets boring to me because of that. Now once she does the key change, it gets MUCH better very fast and you get to see Mori spread her wings and take off. THAT part I LOVE about that song. With this song, although she doesn't take off per say, she DOES show that she can sing with emotion and conviction. This song has a much more interesting composition throughout the entire song, not just the second half. It shows off her squeaks, which EVERYBODY loves almost as much as they love her whistle notes, and it also sounds to me that it is a much more challenging song to sing.

So many abrupt switches between registers, and many singers lack the voice control to do the vocal breaks without them sounding harsh and jarring. You realize just how gifted a vocalist Mori is when you watch someone else try to cover NMB.
