I remember being surprised by how much I liked this film when I first saw it. Richard Gere is terrific in the film and it has a really good script and direction by Paul Schrader. It has a good score by Giorgio Moroder as well.

@@suzycreamcheesez4371 Richard Here plays a good role in this film. He plays off of his good looks, and shoes that he is smart as well. The murder mystery is interesting, and like one commenter said, the score is memorable as well.

Great picture, I remember my older brother had the movie poster in his room, then years later he moved to NY and frequented the same night club as Gere. I watched it years later and really enjoyed it. Great acting, sharp writing, and Gere’s wardrobe was top drawer.

My bro spent time in NYC, but Interestingly I think the club was in Syracuse where Gere was raised. I’ll ask my bro next time I talk to him.

Almost seems like the movie pretty woman is a reflection of this movie. Richard gere moved up to being a business man while Julia Roberts was now the prostitute. And Hector elizondo was also in both movies with Richard Gere.

I think the reason most other people knocked it is because it went against the popular moral code at the time. It was on late night on HBO, and I didn't like much of the films characters nor setting, but Siskel and Ebert are right, it's a well put together movie regardless of what you think of the actual story and characters.

You need to see this movie again . It's the movie that made him a star. This movie was sexy and fun. Great performances by Gere and Hutton. Give it a another try. The part that surprised me the most was the little murder mystery within the movie. It was fun and original and it worked and it didn't seem fake.
