I really have fallen head-over-heels in love with this show! The cast, the writers, the story, the cinematography, all the little things that you miss if you blink, EVERYTHING! My hope is that season 2 has 10-12 episodes (if not more because there's so many elements to discover, so many other stories to tell) & that we get more interactions between Mad Sweeney, Bilquis (who is my new Goddess), Shadow, Dead Wife (I just really like that name for her!) Mr. Wednesday, Mr. Nancy & Media. I loved each character but these are the ones that kept me on the edge of my seat. And Mr. World is now the King of my Nightmares. Every Actor/Actress involved gave astonishing performances but the person who really stood out & impressed me the most is Gillian Anderson who played not one or two but multiple roles each time she appeared. She was Lucille Ball, Ziggy Stardust, Marilyn Monroe & Judy Garland. She's just a force to be reckoned with & I LOVE her. Can't wait to see what else they have in store for us!

They really wanted season 1 to be 10 episodes but I heard the showrunners went over the budget, so I'm sure we'll see those scenes at the beginning of next season. Gillian was amazing... she looks so pretty still *___* All the women on this show are beautiful but also intriguing and complex characters. I loved bilquis opening coming to American scenes in the finale episode. But I can't wait to see more and I'm pretty sure Tech Boy wants to use her to tempt/kill Shadow!! Poor Dead Wife is looks just tragic at this point rotting away... but I love how she's giving me Sally rag doll/zombie from A Nightmare before Christmas vibes... soo spooky yet cute :3!!! hehe I love Mad Sweeney's character arc he's really gonna redeem himself by helping Laura.... and I"m sad he couldn't join his first true love Essie in the afterlife. I can't wait for the other Gods/folklore characters to be introduced next season it's been years since I listened to the audiobook. Now that I'm reading the book again I'm likw remembering all this characters and it's gonna be soo epic. I wonder if we'll see more new God or old god's who had to be reinvented using technology/media/globalisation. This show was the perfect thing to keep me excited before Game of Thrones starts :D!!
@Vampwars
@Vampwars 7 жыл бұрын
+MsLoupe aka Bonitaymorena, YES!!! I thought I was the only one getting the Sad Sally Doll vibe from Emily Browning's performance. If they ever did do a live version of that (even though it was perfect as it was), she should definitely play Sally. I've been intrigued with Emily Browning since she played the sweet little girl in "Ghost Ship" & fell madly in love with her when she played Babydoll in "Sucker Punch" (which I feel should've gotten a lot more attention & accolades than it did). After that, I've watched her evolve into this brilliant young woman, holding her own as an undead woman with super strength fighting a Leprechaun! Never saw that coming! LOL I figured something was up because it feels like it needed a couple more episodes but as an opening first season, they smashed all my expectations & created something that I'm just as excited to watch as "Game of Thrones". Too excited for that show to return. And then "The Walking Dead" & then 13th season of "Supernatural". And "The Defenders" on Netflix. Wow, just realized I watch a lot of television.

I watch way more TV than that don't feel bad ...*tv addict life* YOLO Yeaaaas gyal I loved her from watching her in a series of unfortunate events and this movie called Sleeping Beauty... where's she's a university students who gets side job as a prostitute but is drugged unconscious so she cannot remember any of her Johns or what they do and they cannot have full intercourse with her or any of the "sleeping beauties". It was an independent Australian film that was a TIFF (Toronto Film Festival). I was like wow this girl can act her pants off and not many young women would take a role like that. I really need to watch sucker punch because people tried to make it seem like it was soo bad and degrading towards women even though I wanted to watch it when it came out. The criticts turned me off when they calling it misogynistic.:/ But I doubt Emily Browning would ever want a role like that without any depth. And I've heard other yotubers like MelinaPenedulum she does great reviews from nuanced black girl who loves fantasy perspective. I hoenstly don't listen to critics or popular opinion as much now and looks that the directors track record instead. Doesn't Emily remind you of any elf/faerie *__* I think that's what attracted me to her as an actress. I like interesting faces that stand out and hers it cute and doll like. Bilquis also has that type of round/face and deep eyes it's so pretty *__*
@Vampwars
@Vampwars 7 жыл бұрын
Oh my goodness, yes! I do think that Emily Browning loos like a magical creature. There's something... hauntingly beautiful about her. And that shocks me because I'm not usually into Actresses with small frames but hers is so delicate looking that it's enchanting, as is her voice (she sings a couple of songs on the "Sucker Punch" album). I like Brian Froud's work, though, & most of the elves/faeries in his artwork are small, too. Like the Gelflings in "The Dark Crystal". Another hauntingly beautiful girl was the Childlike Empress from "The Never-Ending Story". The Actress playing Bilquis is one of the most beautiful women I have ever seen. Her beautiful dark skin & that flowing jet black hair makes her look like a true Goddess. And her eyes & that smile &... she's just perfect! I hope that when they finally get around to doing a movie about the Egyptians (especially Nefertari who was described as being very dark), they cast someone that's as perfect as Biliquis. As for whether or not "Sucker Punch" was misogynistic, I think it was about the unfairness of being in a man's world back in the time that the movie took place but it was very much about women coming together & figuring out how to get themselves out of their situation. Most people weren't ready for that & more than a few people found the ending troublesome (myself included) but overall, I found it to be a ride worth admission. I went & saw it in the movie theaters (not as a critic but because when I saw the trailer, it had elements that reminded me of Sailor Moon) so I went with a couple of friends. We all enjoyed it. And I LOVED "Sleeping Beauty". Didn't know that was an actual thing until that movie shed light on that type of high-priced underworld. I applaud Miss Browning for that because it was insanely out there, especially for someone so young, so new to Hollywood but since that film came out, I've seen a lot of other young Actresses & film directors taking those kind of risks.

shadowseer07, same here. Been an Anne Rice addict my whole life & Neil Gaiman's "American Gods" is my #2 Favorite Book of All Time (#1 is "The Queen of the Damned". Guess I'm just a sucker for gatherings). It's so great to hear that she loved the show & that Gaiman got the accolades from a woman he seems to greatly respect. I feel like watching all the different videos, interviews, breakdowns & explanations about the series has helped me to appreciate both the book & the writer all the more. What a phenomenal show!

You need to watch the miniseries that was made based off one of her books for HBO. It's so good and aired in 2000, about the metisse/creole/mixed people of New Orleans, called Feasts of All Saints. There are some fantasy elements in it but I'm sure the book was way better than the movie. But I still loved the movie :D. It mixes cultures, beliefs, race, class, relationships, sexuality. Just I was impressed with the miniseries but I really need to get a copy of the book. I'm glad their are authors like Anne and one of my favs Neil Gaiman who can write about different cultures and give the characters depth and nuance and also tell great stories.
