I can see what your saying but I think he's just sarcastic and has dry humour. It comes off a little rude because the interviewer isn't witty enough to join in his banter. She doesn't know how to respond and seems to not know if he is serious or not, so instead of joining his sarcastic banter she just sticks to her interview questions.
