"Surround" is probably one of my favorite AHF songs but it just hit me that the main riff sounds very similar to Matthew Sweet's "sick of myself". Anyone else hear it?

Never got to see them live, their energy is amazing! Had tickets to see them in 2001 or so but the show was cancelled. Such is life.

UGH!! Sucks that the show was cancelled.... sorry to hear that. They'll hopefully be back on the road this summer as their 20th Aniv. of their first album is upon us all. I believe they are going to hit the road again :)

It was my first show ever... I felt awkward among the white crowd but when the band played, i couldn't give a damn, American hi-fi were just amazing

Parash... THAT'S AWESOME! Glad you had a blast at your first show!! Couldn't have picked a better couple of bands to see although there are tons out there. White, black, red, green, blue... whatever color skin makes no difference with music.... You should never feel awkward if you're having fun. Next time the boys come to NYC, buy a ticket... come with friends and have more fun with us! I'll introduce you to the guys... my brother in law Brian is the drummer and the other 3 are some of the most humble, talented, easy going dudes you'll ever meet. I love the song "Surround", and had question about it..when I hear the main guitar in Surround, I think of Matthew Sweet's "sick of myself". Curious to know if he was an influence. Thanks!

Certainly is one of their best songs for sure!!! As for the influence, I'll have to ask you to catch the boys at a show and ask them directly. I have no clue, but I do know that they are all tremendous guys and will absolutely chat with you and everyone else after their shows. Super fan friendly guys! :)
