I love the fact that David chose this song because of its message. That's just the kind of person he is. Also, don't forget he was a very young 17 here. His voice was and is still changing.. I'm amazed at what control he has over his voice watching the various videos from his current concert tour. He's simply an amazing talent and by all accounts a great person. Having said that and considering this kid is only a kid.. he gave it a good go. This song in Australia is all bare the national anthem.. everyone knows it back wards.
