I've gotta add one whose name isn't a household word but whose songs are...Troy Seals. He could be called the Father of Country Soul (in the Chris Stapleton vein). Now in his 80's the man's voice, like Noah's, was a blend of country and R&B soul! He was born in Bighill in 1939. His daddy was a coal miner. Troy gave it a go as an artist in the 70's but after a couple of record company shut downs, carved out his niche as a songwriter with cuts by the likes of Elvis (whose Troy Seals' song "Pieces Of My Life" while never a single, was, imo, one of the greatest songs he ever recorded), Roy Orbison, Eric Clapton, Conway and Loretta, Willie, Wayon, Vince Gill, Ronnie Milsap, Ray Charles, Dobie Gray, Mike Reid, Wynnona, and more! I know I'm leaving out some but you get the picture. I'd rather listen to any of Troy Seals demos than alot of what you hear on radio! One of Troy's prolific go-to co-writers, Eddie Setser, also in that Chris Stapleton vein, was from Corbin. Something 'bout Kentucky, its country roots run deep in the veins of musical greatness. I just had to mention Troy for sure an unsung standout as being a native of the great state of Kentucky. He by the way possessed that same humble personality and great humor, as well as guitar and vocal chops that Noah has. He also worked in construction while honing his musical gifts, before ultimately high tailing it to Nashville. Almost like he could a been up there in Noah's family tree somewhere! Long lost great grandpa!! I just had to mention this lesser known Kentucky native. who is actually in the Country Songwriter's Hall Of Fame. I worked with him in the 70's and I greatly admired the man and his music...still do!

His COVID performances nailed it for me - you can tell a lot about a performer when they are confronted with a challenge. No excuses performance. Delivered and nailed the performances. He never faltered. I believe he gained confidence after going through this that propelled him to win. Absolute professional level of conduct. I liked his choices in songs throughout - not just sticking to country though he put his own spin on each song. The episode that he moved around the stage was brilliant - it was at that moment that I knew he'd win. Constant growth and improvement. He took weeks to progress through what many had done in years. And throughout, Noah was always Noah. He never made it seem like he was impersonating other singers. And he peaked at the right time even as the others just kinda treaded water. Congrats to you and to your family and wish you much success!

And it's heartwarming to see a young man so family oriented at that age. I think he actually turned 20 on the show. So he was 19 when he auditioned.
