Nah the background story of the song is kind of foggy, but it's more like a young poor village boy, had given all his saving to his crush, so his crush can go to the town for education. However, there are too many seduction in the town, so his crush just like "oh byebye I'm gonna marry someone, I just met him, but he is rich". and disappear. The song said even the animal in the village know his "nobal love" is nothing but a joke, he felt sorry to his parents, and finally just hang out with friend and let it go. But I think the background story within the lyrics, is kind of different with the story in the music video. within the lyrics, the girl has been gone and get married in the town, the boy just heard the news and haven't met her. But in the music video, they paid tribute in the ending to Anthony Perry's early cast : The Untold Story(it's a popular thriller movie before my time). Implying the boy eventually found out his crush was actually a boy (related to some kind of blind faith in undeveloped villages), and then the boy just... watch it in the end.
