I'm a lifeguard in training in Germany and we learned jumping into the water is the absolute last resort because it endangers yourself. Depending on the situation, you can just talk to them to help them out of their panic and relax or throw them the tube so they can grab onto that and you pull them out. In a pool, that should be enough in most cases if the person is conscious.

I'd like to see the underwater moves while doing the deep rescues. Above water is easy, but the kicking is what moves the rescue.

How do they keep the board straight when pushing it down? That's the hardest part of the extrication

I don’t have much experience but I assume the holes in the board allow the water to pass through meaning there’s less pressure pushing on the board. So its probably easier than you’d think. does that make sense?

No the part that made the most sense is "I don't have much experience." The board is designed to float. Pushing it down is hard. Try it.

I’m just trying to be reliable yk? this isn’t the best comparison but imagine pushing the side of a laundry basket into the water. The water would pass through the holes sorta holding/ guiding it down. On the other hand, if the board had no holes it would be very hard. im very curious to try it now! do you have any lifeguard experiences?

That's why it would be better for the lifeguard to throw the tube from the shore so the victim can grab that and not you.

Can anyone help me, I'm an experienced swimmer and sometimes I've worked with pool lifeguard here in Brazil, today I'm a biomedical engineer and I'm studying ways to spend some time in the US to improve my English, does anyone know of getting a visa to work with lifeguard?

You can try contacting the aquatics department at a YMCA in the area of the US where you plan on moving. They might be able to help you. I’m not saying they will, or that they can, but you might be able to get a work sponsorship. Be sure to ask for the aquatics director, don’t just talk to the person who answers the phone. Look online for the YMCA location. Every YMCA has contact information to their aquatics department.
