As someone from South America i cant stress this enough, if you come here, just go to the most visited places by tourists. Come with someone, do not befriend anyone, do not tell anyone where you're staying, do not follow them or get in a car with them. Do not walk outside with valuables such as phone, wallet, etc, in the streets, do not stray farther than city centres, for even in the most luxurious cities there's a slum of criminals around the corner. You are not in your safe first world country anymore, here common stuff you do everyday could mean your death. I am very sorry to hear that. As a Haitian, I do not encourage anyone to go to Port-au-Prince or nearby right now. I don't understand why mother nature doesn't eliminate these gangs. My heart goes out to the family members of those killed. The couple reminded me of two angels. Unfortunately, this has been repeated over and over in Haiti. I have seen so much time, effort, and money spent in that country and it never seems to recover and become " normal". Not to mention several governments that have come and gone. 😢I give much credit to all those who have tried to help. But after observing the situation there for decades and looking back at history, I personally would not spend 1 minute of my time or 1 penny of my money on that country, there is something eternally wrong there, l believe it is forsaken.😢
