I understand Mez is an acquired taste, but bro honestly he is sick. Can’t judge him just from this one vid. Watch anything with Mez and his Dj Grandmixxer. It’s a unique type of grime

Mez was easily man of the match on this clash. You just heard he had a similar voice to d double e and disregarded him.

Hypes a original grime vet... grime clashes you gotta judge like dance hall/reggae riddim clashes it's how it hits n drops (in grime its how they hit the 16 bar switch in the beat) not content n lines... although a good punch can help

Yea my brain and ears were trained for the latter. So when I don’t get good lines and it’s just a sick flow I feel like it’s incomplete. But the parameters for grime is pocket and flow and riding the rhythm is paramount but if you have nice bars too then that’s cool but it’s not necessary. Still trying to get used to these rules

You should defo deep dive into Mez bro, unique styles upon styles. There’s too much sick content for you to get through but as a starting point: Grandmixxer & Mez - ‘Go Freestyle’ is a diss track for Yizzy & Chip, worth checking. His ‘One Uncle’ showcase for his newest project is also super cold: kzbin.info/www/bejne/p3nXc6mFbJudbLc

That riddim tho ah lie? How these riddims resonate in the states? You man get gassed off a beat like this? Or it not hitting your ear drum like that?

timestamp please ? Or do you mean how do these grime sounds hit in America? if its the latter unless your a music head like myself most Americans will call this cluttered noise. We have no frame of reference for these sounds unless again you are a music head and do the work. Otherwise Skrillex invented electronic and grime is just hiphop.

@@Jurnalist_ I hear that, hip hop always took a traditional sort of sound n blended it with hip hop especially late 80s 90s (crate digging samples etc) but last 10 years with the advancement of digital computer music making software more digital sound experimenting has slowly worked its way into the sound especially drill wise etc

@@JohnTheBaptist87 I would totally agree but that’s for everything not on the radio in America. You want to be on the radio here. The music better not have too complicated of a beat. Dr Seuss better have ghost written the verses or you have to have a label with money like Kendrick or Cole then the wordy rap is okay because we paid for the marketing like it was pop. 😭😭😭 In ways I hate it here. 🤦🏾‍♂️💆🏾‍♂️💆🏾‍♂️

@@Jurnalist_ trust but that's how its always been labels tryna formulate and manufacture a sound that will appeal to as much people as possible, it happened in the 90s (vanilla ice, milli vanilli etc) atleast back then singers in music had to have talent and hip hop was still dictated by the hip hop community, you didn't get through if you was wack in the community you had to be able to spit... the computer made it so it ain't about talent... the computer can make anyone sound like they can sing... an sexy people sell so just get some talentless but hot to trot, there songs will be written for them, the computer will make them sound good, and a record label will produce there whole album, as far as hip hop the net made it accessible to everyone to put stuff out n ppl like soulja boy accidentally got a song to go viral... as a wack spitter which opened the door to others... now the younger generation don't give a f about tryna be the best rapper ability wise just want social media clout and music video that portrays them in a light they wanna fake and have fans believe its real

@@Jurnalist_ oh man 'skrillex' - that's just madness lol, UK have been the electronic music pioneers since the late 80s and through the 90s with acid house and then jungle and dnb, then UK garage, then grime, then oldschool dubstep (check out Mala and Skream etc if you don't know real dub lol), but then skrillex came along and now all americans think this neeky yute created all electronic music haha my days. Would be cool af to hear you react to oldschool uk dubstep when it was poppin here - so different to what the USA did to our baby lol - used to be about subbass and dark weed riddims, then you man got hold of it and turned it into 'cluttered mid-range noise' lol
