And it was their first full English song. It was Dynamite that introduced me to BTS, so this song holds a special place in my heart.

What I love about BTS is that they are not afraid to make all kinds of music. They don’t always stick to one genre. They have something for everyone. This song is a feel good pop song that was great to hear during the heart of the pandemic. Even my dogs dance to this song. 😆 💜💜

Yes. This has a different vibe. Happy, carefree, fun, and playful. It was a specific decision BTS made. No heavy deep songs during covid! This was the kind of song needed to uplift everyone. Also, another major decision. It was their first all English song. The radio stations in the U.S. would not play BTS's songs because they were sung in Korean. This song changed everything. It swept the U.S. It hit #1 on Billboard. And stayed there. And broke records. And BTS got nominated for a Grammy for the first time!!! Check out their 2nd and 3rd English speaking songs. They all went to #1 too! "Butter". "Permission to Dance".

Y’all again on point. They are always making opportunities to make nods to the greats and different decades. So much of their hip hop tracks are straight 90’s too 💜 This one was also very specifically a nod to Michael Jackson. The trademark kicks and hip thrusts, Jin straight up moonwalked on that basketball court, and Jimins moves near the beginning. All MJ shit. The live MMA performance was fire. Jimin wore the MJ jacket and the dance break was on a whole other level. Love seein y’all vibing to their stuff and really analyzing it because they put in so. Much. Work. 💜💜💜

there's a reason/purpose for every BTS song. This song is very light hearted, happy, poppy, because this song was done during covid. BTS wanted to put a smile on Army's face during those difficult times. I'm glad this was not the first BTS song you listened to (like many other reactors), because this is an anomaly in BTS's discography. This song is good. but i feel like it's much better after you've seen what they're capable of then coming back to it versus the first introduction to BTS. Sometimes I worry that it gives them the stereotype of being "just another poppy boyband".

it was released Aug 20 2020 so it was summer time! they released it cause of covid.. it wasn't planned, they were supposed to be in a world tour but covid.. yeah, didn't happen. So they were preparing a new mini album while they couldn't be touring (their last big album was released in Feb 21st 2020 so ofc they weren't gonna release anything else that year). They were trying to cheer ARMY up and they def. did!!!
