Dave Allen was something of an unmissable tv institution in the UK in the late 60s and through the 70s and made a huge comeback in the 90s. A much loved character - after his death in 2005, his family and friends commented on what a nice guy he was in real life too.

Please, watch more of his clips. Unfortunately, he passed away in 2005 at the age of 65. He always had a very unique way looking at life and made a common situation and phrases really funny. He is THE COMEDIAN I go to when I had a stressful day. Other clips: about old age, about teenagers, teaching your child how to read time, about post office, to name a few. Also, all his actual sketches. He was priceless.

The number one safety recommendation for airlines is to put the seats in facing the tail. That way you are thrown into the seat on a heavy impact not forward. All Royal Air Force transport planes do that, but civilian airlines refuse to do it because people don't like facing the 'wrong way'.

I have had a few close calls in airplanes. I'm not sure if it's just me but even though I suffer from severe anxiety and panic attacks faced with information off the pilot that we're landing without the landing gear, I genuinely felt at peace

Dave Allen's family were our neighbours where I grew up although they moved away when I was young. His dad was also a very funny man, full of anecdotes and very entertaining. We went to the same school, although he was several years ahead of me. The school wa pretty grim, but, strangely, a few comedians went through it, including Dave Allen and Paul Hughes. It might have been a survival mechanism!

*Dave Allen is an absolute God.* My parents - who were rather clueless about such things and would never have thought of booking a babysitter - took me to see him live when I was 12. I think I was the only child in the audience! I laughed along with everyone else, even at the stuff that went over my head. I expect these days it would be billed as "Unsuitable for U-16s or something. Anyhoo, he was - as ever - truly magnificent. I've never heard him do a bad routine, ever.
